Official RD Countdown Thread

yes, last year we got our letters before April 1st, so be prepared! Good luck everyone. Remember, it comes in a thin envelope, so don't get scared. If you see a green sheet with deposit info, you're in! lol, that's how i knew I was in before I read the letter.

EA admits from this year-- was your sheet green too?

hmm. in dec my deferral letter came on that saturday after they were mailed. That means I can expect this saturday too...I'll be in new york-either a very good or very bad welcome home/happy birthday gift!

w consistently crossed fingers...

Not green, but grey. Saw the return addressed envelope first, so had a a pretty good clue!

lol when I first got my letter, I just remember someone's post who got in last year about how you can tell there's more than one piece of paper in the acceptances... so the first thing I did was feel the width of the envelope, and I felt more than one piece of paper, so I pretty much knew. :D

I like that feeling the thickness idea. I think when i get the letter i will run into a dark room to open it and turn on the light when i am ready to read it. The two peices of paper thing kinda ruins that though.

the website states that decisions will be announced by April first, so i'm not surprised that a number of you EA applicants heard earlier than your date. i'm more nervous, though, because there's no specified date- i am going to be a wreck during the last two weeks of march!

you guys, this is hilarious! someone from one of my colleges called me today to tell me that my financial aid application had me down for earning 160,000 a year. me! who's never worked in her life!

...no wonder our EFC was soooo high....lol....

At least the university was smart enough to figure out that most teenagers don't make $160,000 a year. If I made that much annually and maintain my lifestyle now, attending Georgetown or any other university in fact wouldn't be a problem.

Babybird87, seriously, all of us need to write books.

haha, my earnings would have been more than my parents' annual income. sooo funny.

what do you mean, write books? like about our college application experiences? geez, that would be a riot. maybe we should make a sitcom with all of us, just perpetually applying for colleges...heh.

Last year after my son was accepted to Georgetown he sent an email to the alum who interviewed him to share the good news. She responded saying that, yes, she had heard some time ago but didn't want to rob him of the experience of "opening the envelope". So, I guess that Georgetown tells the interviewers before the applicants get the news! Also, he recieved a mailed invitation to a local gathering of accepted students within a day of the letter of acceptance arriving so the person planning that (another local alum) must have known for a while too.

Really???????

When I interviewed, the guy said that he hears a "little" bit before we do. Not quite sure how much time a "little" is.

yeah, at most schools the alumni hear before. I know my Cornell interviewer said the same thing.

is there anyway that someone from regular decision heard already???? im hearing rumors that someone in my school found out already. is this possible??

hmm, i'd say it's a little too early for them to have decisions out. Usually the people around DC hear first, then the east coast then west coast then international. Though i'm generalizing. I remember that I heard on CC that some ppl had decisions, then I got mine the next day or two(i'm in NY).

Typically, the School of Nursing and Health Studies sends out their decisions well before the other three colleges.

i got in today.... yipeeeee

congrats express2nyc!!! i take it you got a letter? when was it dated? are you a URM or international student? what college did you apply to? also, could you post stats (not that they'll help me in any way, just curious...)?

thanks in advance and sorry for all the questions...i'm paranoid, as i think a lot of people on this board are...

Congratulations! Welcome to The Hilltop! If you applied to the College, and this is like a regular admissions(like not for special programs or anything), then I wouldn't be surprised if they send out decisions tomorrow or next week(though it seems early...).
