Hello fellow Rice applicants,
There isn’t a thread for the class of 2021 so I thought I’d go ahead and create one. Feel free to discuss and ask questions. You can use this template when posting your decisions:
Objective:
•SAT I (breakdown):
•ACT (breakdown):
•SAT II (place score in parentheses):
•Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0):
•Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable):
•AP (place score in parentheses):
•IB (place score in parentheses):
•Senior Year Course Load:
•Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.):
Even though the deadline to submit your application if you want an interview is in December, do you guys know if our counselor and teacher recommendations have to be submitted by that time?
I know rice requires 1st quarter grades. If your high school goes on semester grades does that mean they will just list the grades, but not recalculate class rank. Is class rank only based on the first three years for early decision? Also the school only reports on %. My son’s rank is 1st decile of top 5% which she said is 2nd place though she won’t actually say second place. Will Rice be able to tell from from the school saying this on his transcript and also mentioning there are 260 kids in his class.
@scarletwitchx My son asked the question and they said send them as soon as they are available, but that they wouldn’t be a determining factor on admission because his quarter grades don’t go out until after the November 1st deadline though they don’t factor it in class rank until 1st semester is over close to February when they post. I am sure they must consider them
If we’re applying RD, though, that shouldn’t be a problem, right? (My first semester grades come out at the beginning of February, so after I submit my application.)
My son just submitted his application, but it says he didn’t upload his early decision agreement. What can be done now that it is sent. I believe I filled in my part as a parent. I tried to do it again, but it says I can’t. he believes he did also but it is saying he didn’t. It says upload it now.
It is a paper form that he signs, you signs and finally the counselor signs. After the counselor signs you upload and submit. When my daughter applied last year she got the same prompt, and IIRC, it wasn’t part of the original application package and we may even have submitted it after the Nov. 1 deadline. But, to be sure, he should call the admissions office to make sure he handles it properly.
If you and your son already signed ED in common app ( Parent ED should have a status of submitted with a date on it), the only remaining ED agreement is from the school counselor. Please ask your school counselor to send it electronically if that’s an option in your school. Paper form only needed if direct electronic submit is not possible.
Thanks for all the help. I am not sure how it was fixed, but his counselor must of done something and fixed it. It is submitted. Now it is time to wait. This post isn’t very active like last year.
