if we were to check usps, where would the notification appear?
For those wondering how to check USPS, just go to usps.com and create a free MyUSPS account. If there is a trackable (ie priority / express) mail ever coming to the address you register with, this account will show the package. For Rice, the speculation is that if you see a mail originating from PSI Systems Houston, TX, then you are in. Again - this is only speculation at this time.
@TikopiaRock28 it’s called MyUSPS. Look it up and make an account.
I’m hoping my guess that you need the account created BEFORE that notification came up is true:)
Let me know if you have a message and you just created an account!
I’d follow @MedSciBud 's words. A lot of factors are present here, including how long you’ve had the profile. Don’t judge an absence of a parcel on the USPS as a negative sign. By the looks of it, tomorrow should be the day where you get a definitive answer.
we have to validate our accounts before anything will show up correct?
I made an account, but I can’t see where to view anything. This is way too confusing, just going to wait till tmrw
@Runnergirl1226 you’ll need to know some background info about your family. I was asked what county I lived in, what street I have lived on, and what lender we got our car loan from in 2012
Does Rice only send acceptances through packages? I have something from PSI systems down in Houston too!!!
Guys if you just made your account and nothing shows up don’t worry. I’m pretty sure they only show packages that were sent after you made your account.
And it seems like that package has to be from Rice since we all have one from PSI Systems! I’m so excited!
Does anyone know if Rice also mails rejections/waitlists? That would suck if I got all excited for a rejection…
Agree with @bssurly that probably shows packages sent after account creation.
@bssurly - they probably do mail out rejects / waitlists, but I doubt if those will be sent by priority trackable mail.
And again - at this time, no one really knows is this PSI systems mail really is Rice and if that really is acceptance.
Please note that some zip-codes do not get the USPS notification. So, don’t be disappointed.
They also may not have been able to get all the mail processed in one day
My MyUSPS account showed packages from before I made my account. I’m guessing the package is from Rice and that the decisions will come out tomorrow, because otherwise the chances of several of us getting a package from Houston at the same time are astronomically low. But I agree, we shouldn’t worry too much about what all this means until decisions come out.
So does Rice also do emails and/or portal updates? Which presumably would apply to all decisions (accept, deny, waitlist)?
If the USPS packages are in the mail, would that suggest that the online decisions be available tomorrow evening?
And no packages to our address (I signed up last week). Fingers crossed!
@northwesty If previous years are any indication, they’ll update the portal right around 4 pm CT. I would guess that they’d also email us shortly after.
Yes that’s the sender on mine & the zip code matches Rice’s - not a guarantee but a strong possibility is how I see it
@melodicvitamins I haven’t had a chance to look at previous threads, do you know if anyone in the past has mentioned getting the package notification on MyUSPS?
@bssurly I looked through this year’s ED thread and last year’s RD thread really quickly and didn’t see any mention of it.
