Official SAT II *US HISTORY* October Discussion

Don't sweat 7 skipped questions. The thing about the US history exam is that you're not expected to know EVERY question that CollegeBoard poses. Basically, you can afford to skip 7 and get 5 of the ones you answered wrong to still be in the 780+ range.

I said for Debs that people should share the national income? I thought that was more reasonable than the national government holding resources because Debs was also a union leader wasn't he?

It was Northwest Ordinance...and I said Texas and the state under Missouri were the ones to be admitted as slave states.

For the two states on the map, it was Arkansas and Texas I think. Or that's what I put --;;

And for the Debs questions, I put the national assumption of the resources and such because not only did Debs stress that he was running not as a labor leader but as a socialist, but also because socialism refers to the communal ownership and responsibility for production.

But who knows, I've been wrong on Subject tests plenty of times...

what I had:

clinton => health care
eugene debs => nat govt controls resources (socialist)
personal income tax => late 1800's early 1900s? (progressive era? not sure)
washington => non-involvement in foreign affairs

what about the one that had transcendentalism as an answer choice?

edit
malcolm x => "none of this sit in, drive in, etc. "
reagan => deregulating business
johnson => domino theory
picture of women in factory => factory workers
"californy" poem => senator(?) who opposed mexican war
war of 1812 => eliminated federalists
republicanism as an answer choice
ghost dance => spiritual movement

for the transcendentalism as an answer choice i put the transcendentalism. yah. but for the none of this sit in drive in one, i said it was washington... i dont know though. i dont know enough about malcolm x.

hahaha im so worried about this

What is the typical curve like for US? Also, what do you guys believe is the most you can get wrong for:

750?
700?

I think it helped a lot that I'm studying the Civil War for Academic Decathlon right now. They put in the Hudson River School and I was like, "I know what that is!"

to snipez:
(the ones i answered too)

clinton => health care<same, i'm="" 80%="" sure="" that's="" right="" eugene="" debs=""> nat govt controls resources (socialist) <same washington=""> non-involvement in foreign affairs <same picture="" of="" women="" in="" factory=""> factory workers<same "californy"="" poem=""> senator(?) who opposed mexican war <same republicanism="" as="" an="" answer="" choice="" <same="" ghost="" dance=""> spiritual movement<same</same></same></same></same></same,>

the one with the answer choice transcendentalism, i chose that.

for the map with the 2 states i put 5&6 which i think were kansas and nebraska but i guessed.

for the one about johnson, was domino theory a choice? Because i remember putting down "put many us armed forces into battle" or osmething like that

same...I put down put ground forces into battle

slaves or tobacco most important to virginia in 1600s

what was the question on johnson/domino theory/ground forces?

I believe the domino theory is about if one nation fell to communism, then all the other nations in that region would also fall under communism.

And the ghost dance was a native american religious movement.

I hated this test...I skipped like 7 questions and got at least another 7 wrong.

don't worry too much about skipping 7 and getting 7 wrong. that comes to a total of about -16 raw scores which is still above 700. they know how ridiculous this subject test his, and so they give a pretty generous curve.

akati, i think i put tobacco. I think the first slave came to america in 1619 , but they weren't a real factor in the beginning because of the wide-usage of indentured servents.

I sure hope I did well... Now I don't feel so confident about my scores. =/

English Puritans were the largest group of immigrants to come overseas during the 1600's right?

Hey, I'll be taking US history in Nov, what would you say is THE most important peice/period to know, and what peice/period do you most regret not having studied more for. Also, was there any question on something not covered in your test prep book? I have PR and Kaplan's btw.

pr and kaplan should cover you. try to start up the "memorizing" now, if you want to get a really super good score. there are a few questions that ask you about stupid little facts, and all of them i vaguely remembered reading about so yeah.

there was a lot in there about the revolution and the civil war.
