Official SAT Subject Test - Biology E/M - June 2015

@Saburo I hope 12 can keep us in the 700s. I’m thinking 7 or 8 wrong, but at this point I could’ve also gotten 12 wrong. This was my first subject test so I’m hoping for a good outcome, too.

for the M section, how about the microtubules affect anaphase, prophase, synapsis interphase or cytokinisis?

@asiankid88 it was that we couldn’t synthesize vitamins. If you read closely, the question specified MOST VITAMINS. True, we can synthesize K and D, but for the most part, we cannot synthesize most of them.

microtubules affect prophase

@RybkaShredder I thought it would affect anaphase. prophase is usually the condensing of chromosomes and disappearance of the nuclear membrane. anaphase relies on microtubules to pull them away from each other

@Boltingflame it was something like: evidence of evolution from lobed fish and not Ray fish include which is the following

  1. similar structures in lobefish and something else
  2. something that made sense
  3. fact that there are less lobe fish today (outcompeted) than Ray fish
Sorry don’t remember it that well

@Necrosympath couldn’t it be all similar in structure though?

I said anaphase. I would’ve said metaphase if that had been an answer.

These will, of course, vary from test period to test period, but are generally good guides.

@Saburo if i get minus 6, do you think i could pull off a 750+?

I don’t think vitamins are all similar in structure, but it’s 100% for sure they cannot be synthesized by animals–that question is verbatim in the old SAT II’s book.

@Necrosympath how about the marsupial question.

guys… the question about the marsupial/ mammals… do they develop limbs for locomotion…do they all have fur… do they all have a long gestation period…do they all develop in a fluid… which one is it NOT (thats the question)

@goodlife12 i put the ca will be lowered. Im not sure.

@asiankid88 they don’t all have limbs and feet (dolphins)

MARSUPIAL ANYONE???

@asiankid88 The answer was long gestation period, marsupials have a short gestation period-- look up gestation period for kangaroos

For one of the questions was the answer the hair choice? It was like an except question i think

@RybkaShredder nope, they have limbs. they’re degenerated but they help with balance in its back. @meaa7130 i put the hair one because dolphins definitely DO NOT use hair to insulate themselves because the answer stated was that all mammals/ marsupials use hair to insulate

@Necrosympath It was something about not fully developed young I think, yes? For marsupials.
