3 wrong, 0 omit = 73 CR
1 Free Resp wrong, 0 omit = 77 math
4 wrong, 0 omit = 71 writing
Comp = 221 (PA)

CR: 5 wrong / 0 omit --> 69
M: 2 wrong / 0 omit --> 74
W: 4 wrong / 0 omit --> 71

My CR jumped 90 points, math dropped 20 points, and writing dropped 50 points.

well im from NY and i somehow managed to get 99th percentile even though i only got a 215 score. does that mean that the cutoff will be much lower this year since even with a 215 i made it to 99th? I heard the cutoff is usually at 218... i hope its lower this year lol.
CR: 69 (5 wrong)
Math 66 (6 wrong)
writing 80 (o wrong)

I dont want to dash your hopes, but for some reason, I dont think that the semi-finalist cutoffs are ever lowered (I could be wrong).......even if it was, it would have to drop 3 points..which is pretty sigNificant...I would still hope-but its kind of a reach (even if u are 99%).....
Again- I really dont know so dont put too much faith into my post.. I could be totally wrong...
Hope you get it though!!!!

usually, what percentage of the top 1% of PSAT scores actually makes it to the semi-finalist level?

Well, I am not sure of the exact numbers, but each year about 1.3 million people take the PSAT (http://www.nationalmerit.org/nmsp.php). One percent would make it 13,000 people, and 16,000 people get in as Semifinalists. According to that logic, however, doesn't that mean ALL 99% scorers qualify as Semifinalists? @@".

I concur with vinny that I don't think the curve will be lower this year. I am even thinking that it might jump a point. Judging from the performance of my peers at school, I thought this test was easier than last year's administration.

I may be wrong, but doesn't the asterik next to your selection index tell you whether you made it or not?

The presence of the asterisk indicates that you are not eligible for National Merit status, regardless of your score.

A quote from the back of my score report:

"If there is an asterisk (*) next to your Selection Index score, it means you do not meet requirements to enter NMSC competitions for awards to be offered in 2007."

Usually, for US citizens, it just means that you're not a junior, and because you aren't planning to graduate early, you have to take it as a junior.

thts what i thought at first gxing.... but no ... The asterisk not being there just means that you are eligible to get either commended or semi-finalist.... not that you definetly got it
I am prob confusing u more - hope u know what i mean

Tigger....

NMSF is for top .5%...so you need to be in 99.5% percentile, technically.

Also, that is compared to college-bound juniors...not NY state.

hmm i doubt im top .5% then, because i know 215 is not that high. i prob am like top .9% and just made the cut off for 99th percentile or soemthing like that. they release semi-finalist notification next september right?

its okay tigger... commended has some perks as well =)...

Truth be told, you may not get it in NY...

218 is usually the cutoff, but it is possible that it could drop.

plus....you beat 1,287,000 people!!!!!!! come on - you have to feel pretty good about that !

haha. yea right now i wish i lived somewhere where the cutoff was like 210 or something. damn NY...jk lol

Predict my minimum possible score you guys!!!

M: 0 wrong
W: 4 wrong max
CR: 6 wrong max and 1 omit

The MI cutoff has been hovering at about 210(211 last year) for the last couple of years. Am I safe or do I have soemthing to be worried about??? My scores should arrive in the mail at about Christmas time. Thank you very much!

Actually, the MI cutoff was 210 in 2005, and 209 in 2004.

I look on here and I am so envious. Granted, I'm a bright girl. I'm fourth in my class... I have a solid GPA. I just can't freakin' take tests. I did alright. I got 91st percentile, 186 or something. It's not horrendous. I know it's not CC worthy. I want to be better.

Anybody have good/bad experiences with Kaplan?

And is there anyone else out there who can't seem to tackle the Collegeboard?

Le sigh.

are u a soph or a junior?

Junior...

that makes it even worse.

I don't get it. I'm just not a SAT kid. I hate it, I wish it reflected what I'm capable of.
