So you firmly beleive that it doesn't reflect what you're capable of? Haha tell that to the admissions officer.

This may be a stupid question, but please bear with me. Do the National Merit folks look at individual areas, or only the whole enchilada? Does a person with 99th percentile scores in two of three areas stand a chance of getting recognized if the third score is only 75th percentile? The overall score is 210.

thanks in advance-

They look at your overall combined score. You still may have a chance, depending on what state you live in...

One question. Can someone help me on this. I live in Minnesota. I found out by looking at the answers on the collegeboard website that I have an 80 in math, and two wrong in writing which is a 77. Semi finalist score has been around 211-215 for the past few years. What score do I need in the reading and how many wrong would that be to become a semi-finalist.

Maybe you should ask that question after you get your score report back. There is no way you can know you got only two wrong in writing when you don't even have the questions.

Haha, I believe it, but I realize that confidence is futile.

Sarcasm noted, though.

CR: 80
M: 80
W: 73 (? wrong)

Didn't get to take my score report home, as it was a big hassle even getting to see my score. (My counselor's a ****ing moron, what can I say?)

CR: 80, M: 70, W: 73 for a total of 223.

I might have gotten commended! It's hard cause I'm in MA. xP

Yeah I'm in the same boat, milk. I have a 224.

milkfree: How many wrong did you get on the writing portion?

''plus....you beat 1,287,000 people!!!!!!! come on - you have to feel pretty good about that !''

You also have to take into account that 70-80% of those 1,287,000 people don't give RATS about PSATs.

Most of my friends got 200+ (several in the 220s) without studying or doing a lick of preparation - they don't care about the PSAT. That doesn't change the fact that they still score well.

Others study their asses off and still can't get anywhere close to 200.
