how come 5:00pm is not PST?
Last year was 5:00pm EST?

it's not 5 PST for several reasons

it's not mid-afternoon

the admissions can't field any questions from callers because it's the end of their office hour

colleges usually use EST zone

I'm leaving my snippets ON. otherwise i won't have the guts to open it up to find out, and then i'll have to to wait two whole days to REALLY check it (i have a long-distance flight that night)
pommery-- haha i highly doubt they'll give it away in the subject line. it would take away all the excitement of actually reading the email.

ohhh... maybe i should tell my parents my password to my gmail account, lol. hopefully they'll call me with good news....
my last class of the day starts at exactly 2:00p.m. (im in california) i'm thinking i'll check the email, and then if i get in i'll have a REALLY good excuse to be late =P and if i don't, then.. that's another good excuse, bc i'll say i was too busy sulking and didn't want to bring any negative energy into the classroom (of only 6 students)

So since the Stanford site says "after 3pm PST," do you think it will be AT 3? Could it be any later than 4? 3:30?

It's after 6pm my time. Blah, all that dead space after school!!

shoot... darn it!

where did it say "afte 3:00pm"?

^ That's why my friend and I are chillin after school...to relieve the stress and get our minds off things.

I took away the snippets on gmail! and I REALLY hope they don't put the decision in the subject line, although I think it's overall not a good idea to send out results over email....if I get rejected, I don't want that letter lying around everytime I check my mail. and I would like to read my emails in peace before deciding to check on the decisions.

anyways, I'm going to bake myself cookies in the afternoon and catch up on some tv to (hopefully) calm my mind!

nvm i found the link.

OMG, this is so close!!!

44 hours??? Holy carp!

I have a countdown on my facebook page too. It is titled: "The music stops and all scramble for a chair. Thousands are left standing. (freakout)"

Wait, so they'll send out the emails but the snail mail won't get here for at least a day after (i'm in socal)? Aghhhhhhhh, better pack a bowl and prepare for the letter. I removed gmail from my toolbar so I wouldn't slip up and check it.

Waiting for postage mail? ... I'll probably be one of the ones refreshing every 5 seconds on my email.

holy crap is right

I'm pretty sure he's the Admissions Director. He does sound pretty grumpy on the phone, which is weird because he doesn't seem grumpy in person.

How nervous will everyone be beginning at 3 p.m. PST knowing that the e-mail from Stanford may not come right at that time:

Restrictive Early Action Decision Notification
A Message from the Office of Admission

The Office of Undergraduate Admission will mail and email decision letters to applicants who have applied for admission under Stanfords Restrictive Early Action process on Friday, December 14, 2007. Decision letters and emails will be sent beginning at 3pm (Pacific Time) on Friday;

emails will be sent over a period of several hours and may not arrive exactly at 3pm.[!!!!]

Decisions will not be available anywhere on our website, in person or by phone.

Several hours! Is everyone going to sit there staring at their computer screens tomorrow starting at 3 p.m. PST, or will you keep yourself busy until, say, 5 p.m. PST and then check?

It's going to be a refresh-fest for me from 6 PM (eastern) on.

Arg! I'm eastern too, and I have a holiday party thing to go to at 8... it better be out before then. I am planning on celebrating or receiving condolences at the party.
