Wait, so 27 have gotten Trustee/Presidential acceptances spread across all five undergrad programs at SCA?

That’s crazy. Competition is so fierce. I thought I was lucky enough to get into Viterbi considering it’s 12.5% acceptance rate last year, but you guys have it even tougher. Really, good luck to all of you! I’d love it if you all got in.

nwfilmstudent, I don’t know much about the CS department, besides that it’s pretty highly ranked haha. It’s Computer Science (Games) major is pretty unique as no other prestigious uni like USC has such a program, and since LA and California as a whole has so many video game companies, internships/job prospects are great. Integrating Film with CS sounds very interesting - I’d love to know what exactly can be done if the two are combined. I’d definitely hop in that bandwagon if you ever need any help haha.

@anonymityftw: yeah there’s about 27 SCA students who were nominated for presidential/trustee. There were 3 sessions, and for the one I went to there was 1 animation, 1 interactive media, 1 screenwriting, and 4 production people. I know there are 3 animation people total nominated for the scholarships.

@MagicalMalik - Carnegie Mellon also has a very unique game design program.

@happyfruit - Hmm, Keely (I think) also said that there were no Critical Studies majors… strange.

@everyone - I am SO GLAD Kathryn Bigelow got Best Director! And I don’t even care that Basterds only won BSA because Christoph Waltz is amazing anyway. I pretty much died when he said “uberbingo.” XD

@dream - SAME, I was about to post that. I’m excited to watch the Oscars tonight - I’m at school right now and have been following live blogs all day.

I was surprised with a lot of the outcomes. I didn’t think Hurt Locker would get Screenplay, Cinematography, Sound Mixing, AND Sound Editing. Christ. Whatever, my motto is pretty much “as long as it’s not Avatar.”

Dream - Yeah, that’s true…but Carnegie Mellon can’t compare to USC!

Oscars - SO happy Hurt Locker won best pic and best director. Congrats to Bigelow being the first woman to win Best Director. WELL DESERVED. Lame Bullock won. YAY for Waltz. I’m happy for him!! 'Twas surprised by best foreign film win. Thought it would either be A Prophet or The White Ribbon.

PS. sorry guys, I dunno why I put Cinematography. Avatar won that one. XD

This thread is about to hit 10,000 views. Nice.

We’re famous!

anyone have any idea when we find out??

Older threads suggest about March 20-25ish but who really knows? Haha

Yeah, it seems like we’re the last to know. Meanwhile I keep re-reading my SCA personal statements and dying a little on the inside every time I see my typo.

I have a feeling you guys will hear earlier than me. A past transfer student into the Screenwriting program told me that he didn’t hear until the middle of April.

Been lurking and finally have the courage to write.
@dream–don’t beat yourself up. We all wish we should have could of. Can only move forward and hope that your application speaks to a committee member.
@everyone–who else has been interviewed?
@madbean and @mel–do you know of students last year who were interviewed and did not get in. We know that you don’t have to be interviewed to get in.
@everyone–this is a very competitive program. Have resigned to not getting in but if do, won’t understand why over someone else. And will be humbled. With 50 slots in production, it becomes a dart game and I think everyone should hold their heads high because they got through the supplemental application process. What a crazy crazy set supplements had to do.

Also, don’t know how to add. But Production#1, CS #2, stuck on have received fall grades, no other info needed, will inform you by April 1st or whatever the wording is. Have been stuck on this since February or so.

“Folks” : On studentfilm.com forum site (Grad students) for USC-they are getting emails of acceptance pending formal letter…

Yeah there’s this Admission online website for grad students that they could log onto to see if they had an offer for admission. I dont remember the URL but I’ve been trying to find an undergrad one :).

I’m curious too about this interview thing, If you’re been interviewed does that equal admission? I mean it seems the folks calling are professors, endowed chairs, department heads…serious stuff…and since not everyone admitted receives an interview it strikes me that it could be for some form of SCA scholarship. Maybe someone with a bit more insight can fill me in, but I remember reading that they have a few scholarships for incoming freshman?

Thank you for adding! Good luck to everyone!!!
