That’s awesome, Tim! They say “thousands” of people apply to that program, and only 25-26 are accepted–wow!

I PM’d you my e-mail address. Would you mind letting me read your two creative A and creative B samples? If so, no worries, but I’d definitely love to see the work of an accepted applicant!

For those that liked THE LIVES OF OTHERS, if you guys like German films, check out Sophie Scholl: Die Lezten Tage (idk what the english title is), Baader Minhof Complex (i think) and Die Falscher (The Counterfeiters. An Austrian film).

So guys, I just received an e-mail from Financial Aid.

Thank you for your application for 2010-2011 financial aid. We are writing to request additional information required to process your application.

So that we can accurately determine your eligibility for need-based aid, please submit the following as soon as possible. Submitting complete and timely information will help ensure you receive the most aid for which you may be eligible.

@jkain92…sorry to say this, but no. Financial aid and admissions are two separate departments. Financial aid is doing their thing and proceeding forward so they are prepared with an offer of financial aid should you get accepted, but they are doing that for all applicants. Admissions does not have any connection and has no idea what financial aid is doing.

I have someone cking phone messages for me at home in case I get a phone interview request. I am trying to relax here in Mexico-the weather is perfecto. My parents are driving me nuts! My mom ragged on me for having a beer the other nite at dinner. You can drink here at 18. :)

dream, bangkok posted on another thread that he called admissions and in the conversation they said something that seems to support what you noticed:

So, if they don’t want us freaking out, drawing conclusions etc, then don’t make all this stuff available to us. I liked that some schools will let you go on and find out your status (i.e., UCLA, Cal State Schools, Chapman) at the end of the process when they have made a decision.

Also, didn’t they have a record number of students apply this year? Logically speaking, wouldn’t that slow everything down for them? They cannot possibly process more students this year than in the same time as they did last year. That is not physically possible and most likely why there was no big wave this weekend. I am certain they are just overwhelmed and trying to go as quickly as possible. After all, they don’t want to risk losing qualified candidates to another school because they send out their admissions later than everyone else. That is a risk to them and that alone would make them keep their nose to the grindstone. Agree? Yes or no?

@alamemom - I saw that thread! I saw someone else say something like that in last year’s threads, which gave me the idea.

@everyone - I’ve been dying to share this with you guys all day. XD So as you can tell by my CC location, I live outside of Chicago in literally the middle of nowhere. My mom and I were driving to a restaurant in a neighboring town for my aunt’s birthday and we were driving behind a black Jeep Highlander. I was sort of staring off into space when I noticed that they had a few stickers on their back windshield, and the one at the top said “University of Southern California.” I got excited and I was like “ha! a sign!” because this entire week I’ve been seeing random USC things at school and otherwise and joking about how they’re signs. Then I tried to read the rest of the stickers on the windshield and the one right under the USC one said “USC School of Cinematic Arts.”

I FLIPPED OUT. I tried to tell my mom how exciting it was but she doesn’t even know what USC is. Her CC username would most likely be UselessMom. XD

Anyway, yeah. I got really excited… because, W T F, SCA is TINY if you think about it. Small world, eh?

Over this past weekend I was at the 2010 Massachusetts All State Music Festival, I got in for choir. Anyways, there was the kid there who I have met before at District choir festivals.

We started talking about this OTHER kid who auditioned with us and talked to us two years ago, and he goes to USC SCA for Writing Class of '13.

I couldn’t believe it. It made me realize how god damn small the world is.

ANYWAYS…I friended him on FaceBook and started chit chatting with him about SCA and waiting to hear back.

Straight from his mouth…

well dude i wouldn’t worry abou tit
i work in the office that handles the applications
and there are a lot that we still havent gone through
so final decisions havent been made

SO EVERYONE STOP FREAKING OUT! WE WILL HEAR BACK SOON!

@jkain92 - thank you for sharing that info! it makes me feel better. :D

do you guys ever wonder if you’ve inadvertently met other CCers before? I was downtown once and I was like “OMG what if that person in front of me is SOMEONE I TALKED TO ON THE INTERNET ONCE?!”

I got in as a Production major!!! I am so amazed and humbled. I just got back from SoCal today and opened the letter today, but it arrived on Friday. Also, congrats Timish for getting in to the Writing major!
