corb-when i met with sca, they really stressed that people in their program are not the highest gpa in the school. she was really surprised that i was taking ap calc

oh and @dream just out of curiosity do you know how many people got into tish for film so far? im still waiting for them too

no prob mitch. thanks for clarifying. did the email come without your generating a request to respond to a questions or random to you…

@corby - Hmm, I’m not sure. Go to the NYU 2014 facebook group, I started a Tisch discussion there and some people have posted. Also try searching for the Tisch 2014 group, it’ll probably give you a better estimate.

I think NYU takes about 100 for Film Production and 60 Writers. I don’t know about Cinema Studies though, which is what I got into. If I can, by some miracle of the deities, go to NYU I will double major in CS and Production (they let CS kids do that, but they don’t let Production kids double major in CS… w t f!).

Did any of you guys apply to Tisch too? And did anyone besides Benjo and me get in yet?

@mitch - you know, they also may have been trying to placate you with that answer. :P

@nwfilm yeahhh thats what they told me too and like i said my grades are by no means bad, im just saying USC can deny you and SCA can still accept you and you get in but I dont think USC would send a rejection letter out without knowing if the person was going to get accepted into SCA or not. thats the only reason I guessed that to explain my extremely long “forwarded” status. because for USC itself idk if im up to their standards or whatever…

corb-my status on the ussconnect site never changed. had to go thru oasis, try this

https://camel2.usc.edu/OASIS/Login.aspx

@corby - well, I’m definitely not up to USC standards. 3.3 UW GPA but 2090 SAT… eh. Everyone is “qualified” in some way. I definitely didn’t think I was up to NYU standards! Their average accepted student GPA is about the same as USC’s, and both are incredibly higher than what I have right now. :P

lol well mine was a 3.8 uw GPA and like an 1820 SAT

and thanks @nwfilm I’m tryin to figure it out right now lol

@everyone - I talked to mitchster about this yesterday but I feel like I should share it with you guys too.

I’m convinced that the only reason I got into NYU is because I’m a girl and I wrote about how much I’ve been loving 70s horror/exploitation films lately… and neither of my supplements were very good.

I doubt SCA blindly picks the candidates they like and the ones they don’t… they probably look at all of the candidates against each other and try to see if they can work well together. People will always say that it’s stupid to ask “What is X college looking for?” because they’re not “looking” for anything per se, they’re just trying to assemble a diverse class. SCA is probably the same way. They’re going to look at the different types of filmmakers and see who will work well with the rest of the group and who won’t and they’re going to make sure that each one is unique from the rest.

haha i dont remember my password sooooo I cant do it lol

Isn’t the password your MM/DD/YY of your birthdate?

If you’re talking about the “other” Oasis, you can reset your password here:

https://camel2.usc.edu/ESD/IOL/pages/resetPassword.aspx

@wghiller the link you sent me worked and it said the same status as the USConnect status

That’s the only OASIS I know of that shows a status. Mine, too, shows the same status as USCConnect.

gugger posted this in another thread… they asked SCAdmission on AIM if all decisions have been made yet, after seeing mitchster’s email. SCA said no.

no, I sent them an email first…

@dream well that’s good! :]

but we know my fate is sealed aparently

yeahhh sounds like it. be sure to let us know how it goes!

Don’t panic about the email they sent @mitchster. What I am SURE she was trying to say is that since some applicants have already received their decisions, it would be unfair to update your file.

Does anyone know when the next wave will be sent out? Do we still have a chance? (for those of us who have been on Forwarded since 3/15 or so.)
