dreamupsided Thank you very much. People here are so supportive. Still, does everybody post their acceptances on Facebook or CC? Maybe so…This is all so painful.

nwfilmstudent We have never been able to get any information from the USConnect site. Just go round and round in circles. Is there another way?

Hmmm, now I’m wondering why my s’s went to a usc.edu email address. He’s yahoo normally - he went to a SCA summer program 2 years ago, but they didn’t give him a usc.edu address. It doesn’t make sense. I wonder how many students haven’t heard…Any idea?

@newyorker - this is how I see it: SCA accepts 50 for Production and 75 for Critical Studies. I agree, there are only 13 people on FB who have posted that they’re in Production and there are a lot who haven’t posted at all… however, only 3 have posted in Critical Studies and they take more people. Assuming every single Production acceptance has been sent out, 26% of the Production 2014 class has posted on FB. Also assuming that the ratio will apply to CS, there should be ~20 people posting that they’ve gotten acceptances if all of them have really been sent out (if my math is correct, I’m terrible at math).

@licar - That’s interesting… maybe they set up a USC email address without his knowledge? He would have already had an OASIS if he had done a summer program there.

NWII: Only other way that was working was through OASIS, but now that is NOT working for me other than giving me Fin Aid stuff. My USConnect has never worked for admission status. I had emailed them about that three weeks ago, but they never fixed it. said not to worry about it blah, blah, blah.

dream upsided:It’s been a problem right along trying to get any information online. It does make you wonder how this “top notch” institution could be so disorganized. It really does. However, every time I’ve phoned, the person on the other end has been remarkably friendly and helpful. Still, it would be nice to be able to check status online.

@gugger - haha, don’t worry. I went downtown to Chicago this morning and saw an art gallery with my friend. Got some japanese food. Watched Kill Bill. It was a productive evening and now I have nothing to do because my best friends are in different states. I’m watching a movie right now too. I can’t go out (plus it’s already 10 here) because I have to wake up early to work. And Carnegie Mellon’s decisions are going up online in an hour so I want to know if I got into there ASAP.

^ tl;dr, here’s the sparknotes version of my post: I’M NOT CRAZY AND OBSESSIVE I SWEAR D:

Let us know… Does CMU have a strong film department? My old math teacher went there and LOVED it. He got his degree in engineering and then decided he liked teaching. He is REALLY smart!!

@nw - Actually, they really don’t have any film department hahaha. I think most people only go for engineering/science/math/business-related things. I applied to their College of Humanities & Social Sciences for Creative Writing and I’m going to minor in Film/Media Studies if I get in and go. I’m not really sure why I applied; it was the combination of their school color being plaid, their mascot being a Scottie wearing a kilt, Randy Pausch, and their grilled cheese sandwiches.

Anyone have any idea how hard it is to transfer into the SCA Production program if you’re currently a USC freshman? Is it impossible to transfer in in Sophomore or junior year? I’m assuming very few drop out of the program so few openings would be available but wonder if its been done. Thanks.

I’ve read that it’s possible/been done. I’ve also read that internal transfers get in before external transfers. So, it’s probably pretty difficult to do but not impossible. You’d have to talk to someone or call SCA for better info, though.
