If you’re a senior how are you applying for this spring semester?

LOL, im not so sure yet… but I know im applying pretty soon. I just took my sat yesterday.

Does SNU mainly look at academics (SAT/AP/GPA), or do they take ECs into as much consideration as HYP do?

Hi gomdorri :)

How is your korean btw?

Hey again! I recognize you from the Kpop thread and High School Life forums. xP

Um, well I’m Korean (moved to the US when I was 3), and my parents speak to me in Korean at home. I can converse with other people very comfortably and I can watch kdramas and listen to kpop without needing subs/translations, but I’m not too confident about my reading and writing. I’d probably have to study a little to increase my reading speed and comprehension if I do decide to apply to SNU.

Well actually, if it’s just casually talking to Korean people irl or on IM sites then I could probably come across as fluent, but on the TOPIK I doubt I’d be able to score above a 3… I have this whole summer to study though, so if I do finally decide to apply to SNU (pre-med) then I will have a whole summer to improve my Korean, which is plenty.

Hi, I’m in the “process” of applying to SNU for Fall 2013. I’m writing in this post regarding the FORM 2 portion of the application. which is the personal statement form and all the other questions they ask.
- What’s the limit? It doesn’t specifically say the word limit. So i’m getting a short paragraph explaining the prompt.
- Does the prompt change every semester or is it the same?
Also, i’m transferring into the school so in questions regarding of letter of recommendation, any feedback?

Does SNU use the supserscoring policy? because w/o it my SAT is 2310, but with it my score is a lot higher. can someone please help me??

also is 720 for the math section on the low side of the competition (since y’all korean lol)? can reading/writing score make up for it or even my math subject test?

please answer!!! much appreciated! :D

^ applying to med btw

Hi, I am interested in applying to SNU premed. But I’m a little confused about the program.

After SNU premed of 2 years (correct me if i am wrong), the students can enter the 4 yr medical program in SNU?

Is the premed for international students the same as what the native koreans go through or it is a separate program altogether?

Oh and one more thing, what is the language of instruction of the courses? English or Korean?

Please help ans my qns!! and tell me where I could find more information of these courses~~

Thank you^^

this forum is dead

Hey, I am an Indian student currently in my final year of high school…i have a G.P.A of 5/5 since 9th grade but i messed up a bit in 11th grade and got a G.P.A of just 3 or so.
I am preparing for my SAT and TOEFL exams and i wish to apply to snu for the fall sem of 2014 to major in Political Science and International relations.
I would like to know what SAT and TOEFL scores should i aim for, is my G.P.A good enough in order to get accepted?
Thanks :)

Hi, is anyone on this forum still active? I’m looking for some information on SNU/Yonsei and it’s admission process for the 2014 fall year. I would be really thankful if someone could be so kind as to PMing me, replying to this post, or emailing me at greg.mars132 @ gmail . com. Thank you!

hey! i have also applied for SNU for fall 2014, the deadline for submission of application documents is feb 28th!!! so you should hurry up and get your documents together, i just sent mine like two days ago, i didnt apply to yonsei but im considering, which major are you applying for?

I was wondering if someone can rate my specs. I am a high school junior in the US. I am interested in applying to SNU, Kyung Hee University, and Ewha Womans University for fashion related programs

SAT (haven’t received scores yet, from PSAT): 1810
5 years of FHA-HERO, hospitality club
Weighted GPA: 4.3 (hope to graduate with a 4.5, need to get one B up to an A)
Unweighted GPA: 3.67
3 AP classes so far, tons of honors classes
5 AP classes next year

No TOPIK, TOEFL,

@chocohearts08 I think it’s best if you take the TOPIK… SNU requires at least TOPIK Level 3, so I don’t think you can even have a complete application without it.
I don’t think your SAT score is high enough, and your unweighted GPA is a little sketchy
good amount of AP classes though
more extracurriculars?

thank you for the response @binatang. I read the university website for Kyung Hee and it read that if one does not have the topik or did not pass with a high enough score, they can take 10-month of intensive course for the major while being admitted to the college. How valid do you think this is?

SNU says this on their website:
“Korean Proficiency Test
August 2014 (TBA)
When you check the admission result through SNU website on the day of Admission Decision Announcement, you can know if you are required to take the Korean proficiency test. You can check the exact test date on the attachment file; “Reference Guide for newly admitted students” on the notice for Admission Decision Announcement”

Only reason why I am challenging your opinion is that I have little understanding of the language, can not afford lessons or classes, and have no idea what to do for the test or where to take it. I’m a little lost :)

What do you think? I appreciate all help!

@alara1904 Congratulations! If you don’t mind, could you post your specs so I can compare? Sorry, this is kind of personal, but I am really curious.

So I am currently a junior in high school in the united states and wanted to get some advice from you guys. I have been learning korean for 3.5 years now, and would like to know: do international students have to take either the topik or toefl, or just the topik? Like would it be possible to only take the toefl even though I grew up speaking English? Also, by the time highschool ends, I will have taken 8-9 AP Courses (still deciding on my schedule next year), have a 4.2 gpa unweighted, have done tennis all four years, have learned korean since 8th grade, and I am going to take my SAT in october, which will likely be around 2000. What are my chances of getting in truthfully? (This is my top school as well as my reach school). And also, for undergrads out there, what is the total cost of school and living just out of curiousity? Thank you guys so much!
