Official Stanford REA Admissions 2014 Discussion Thread

Hey everyone, I just wanted to say best of luck regardless of what your decision outcome was. I know there’s a place out there for all of us, irregardless of whether it’s Stanford or not. For everyone who I spent time with in the SCEA thread, you are all terriffic people, no matter where you end up attending. And by the way, WTH is with Friday decisions. Really?..

Rejected. Expected it, but dealing with it is harder than I thought. I aimed too high. It’s an all out war with other applications now.

Prussia! you’re cool. Congrats to all acceptees. Others, don’t lose hope… I know it’s easier said than done. I shall withdraw myself from this board too.

collegeguy, I KNOW. There goes my enjoyable weekend.

I guess I’m leaving too, I don’t know what I’m still doing here. Need to sever my ties to Stanford now hahahah

I STILL HAVEN’T HEARD!!!

Do you guys think they’re done for tonight? Am I gonna have to wait til Monday?

Anyone else still lack the email?

I got admitted! It feels so surreal. These past couple of weeks of building anticipation have been the worst. I am so thankful but don’t know quite what to say. Oh, and I want to wish everybody a sincere best of luck with the rest of their applications!

Deferred. God, I was hoping for some sort of absolute answer. This is the worst. Now I know I’ll probably be rejected, but instead of knowing for sure I still have a little bit of hope which can be crushed in April.

hey… question. Are we allowed to contact admissions reps to find out why we were not selected?? I mean, if there was a specific reason that is.

Is it just me or does anybody else notice that the people who got accepted tend to have 2000-2200 SATs while the people who got rejected are the ones with 2200+…

Heh I’ve learned my lessons not to get too attached to a school through posting on forums xD
Good luck to you deferrals,
I’m so happy for all of you who were accepted
Rejectees, I’m with you. Though I’m not bawling my eyes out like some of you probably are…CHEER UP. Eat some ice cream, get a cookie, watch some disney movies 1. There’s always grad school to aim for. 2. Just because a school isn’t dubbed a “top school” does NOT MEAN it isn’t amazing. Hope to actually meet some of you cool people in real life some day (:

Colin, I’ve noticed that too! I guess it’s just further evidence that Stanford doesn’t go for the typical ivy applicant. It seems very rare that I come across a post that’s like “oh, well it was obvious that kid was going to get in,” and way more commonplace to see a “WOW how did he get rejected??”

Diglette I love that commentttt hahahah, the Disney movies is a great idea. WHO ELSE IS EXCITED FOR THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG? No one? Oh. Okay. I’m seeing it tomorrowwww. Right after the holiday parade with my Latin class. I get to be Hera. (what kind of school rejects the queen of the gods, I mean really)

I am still so numb and in shock. I can’t believe this. It’s crazy to think that a committee of people saw something really special in me, so much that they wanted to admit me. I’m just so happy right now.

To all those rejected, I’m so sorry. You’ll definitely all find a great school, as cliche as that sounds. Really.

OHMYGOSH I’m so excited for that movie! Ahh If I could see it tonight, I would, but sadly I’m sick D;
hmm I just can’t seem to leave this place.

FashionCapital, I know how you feel. I’m super-hyper right now!

You’re sick and rejected and not wallowing in self-pity???
Man, I’m jealous, if only I dealt with stuff that quickly haha.
I can’t leave it either. I think I said I would leave twice already, maybe even 3 times. I that was like 5 posts ago. This is harder than I expected xD

Colingray, accepted here with a 2390 SAT. I doubt there’s a statistical correlation between 2300+ SATs and rejection anywhere, but it also seems safe to say that SATs alone don’t make or break a Stanford applicant.

Best of luck to everyone, wherever you may roam!

In. I suppose I got lucky, and they needed an Asian guy who Airsofts, snowboards, and plays the piano?

Why does it seem like those who were rejected are far more academically superior than those who were accepted?

Guys, just wanted to tell you all that you’re INSANE applicants…even those amongst you who didn’t make it. I’m confident that you’ll all end up at fantastic places, so please don’t lose hope - that would be a real shame :).

Brown ED-er who is now super nervous

Hey, cornetking222, I was accepted and I have a completely uncoached 2370/36. I wouldn’t exactly call myself academically inferior.

Starmie,

Sorry about that. I meant to say in a general sense. Obviously, you’re awesome academically.
