** Official Stanford SCEA Countdown Thread**

Haha but if you have a gmail id then a bit of the email body text shows up in gray next to the subject line in your inbox.

And the first line of the email will probably read 'Congratulations...' or 'We're sorry...'

So there'll be no point opening the thing because you'll know whether or not to celebrate as soon as you get to your inbox.

...

Dang I'm such a pessimist.

Oh No !! I am using GMAIL too.
I would be devastated to see the word "regret".

I don't think that Gmail snippets shall present a problem as the 1st line of the e-mail has to be about addressing and recognizing the applicant by name.....Could you please answer my questions:
Guys I have a question. If a major honour has been bestowed upon me today, is there any way that I can communicate that to the Admissions Office? Maybe by calling the regional co-ordinator. Would that be alright?
PLEASE......

12 days ! .

depends. did you like win the Padmashri or something? In which case go right ahead.

otherwise you might look a little desperate. And I dunno stanford seems more into the laid-back look at me i'm smart but don't care-ish type.

shrug

your call

Hehe...Nothing like the Padmashri.....just wanted to let them know.....and I said major because it's something that would supplement the info I've provided in the app......thanks for the response.....

11 days. 10char

Hey guys, I'm just wondering. 3 people from my class have already been accepted to Stanford via sports recruiting, so does that in anyway affect my chances?

Wow, three?!?! That is insane. I would hope that did not have a bearing on your admission.

Ok, good.
My school is obsessed with sports, so there are already 3 to Stanford, 3 to Harvard, 2 to UPenn, a few to Duke, etc. It's really crazy!!!

that's CRAZY!!
we have 1 recruit to columbia and that's it..

11 daysss!

Ah well I just hope recruiting won't affect our chances anywhere!!!

I wish they would notify us on a Friday instead of Monday...it will set the mood for the whole week when we find out on a Monday - and that could be a very good thing, or a very bad thing...eeeek!

honestly
the thing im not looking forward to is having tot ell everyone i didnt get in
i think i could deal with the fact tha ti got rejected/deferred, but then having to tell everyone over and over again? too much.

Absolutely right, Oprah.
That will suck.

Whooaaa! Manzagal3: I'm from Orange County, too, and that's whacky about all the recruits from your school!! It makes me nervous to think the O.C.'s a big feeder for athletic recruits :/ What city are you from?

I agree about the Friday thing, too. Only, I wish it could be Friday the 12th. Or just tomorrow would be nice.

You're right Oprah!, that's one of the things I'm concerned about as well....That is why I keep telling everyone that the result is going to be released after January.....well I keep telling different ppl. different things....hehe....Nobody here knows that it does come out in December.....

I personally don't have that problem because I didn't tell anybody (except a few close friends, of course) that I applied to Stanford. 99% of the kids at my school are merely looking forward to in-state public schools.

10 days !!!!

c1ndy and I have the same approach, although my school is very competitive (5+people to Harvard last year...gulp). I haven't told anyone.

You guys could try establishing a precedent now that won't cause suspicion in December when you refuse to share your admissions result.
