** Official Stanford SCEA Countdown Thread**

everybody at my school seems to know, even though i've only told a couple of people. the beauty of going to a small school, i guess. not to mention the fact that the other kid who applied scea is quite vocal about the fact that both of us applied.

same here. a lot of ppl have asked me and i often told them the truth :/

Word spreads fast in small schools... :(

anyhow, 10 day countdown! woot

@ MisterMax: Yeah, my school always sends a lot of kids to top schools, but they are always just recruits. Today in one of my classes three of us (all Stanford early applicants) were freaking out with stress, because we know that we won't get in because our school has already got 3 recruits ):
Yay fellow OC-er!!! I live in Newport Coast. Where abouts are you the county?

My physics teacher was going to give us a test on the 15th but we all convinced her to move it to the 16th because we are all going to be soooo nervous on the 15th XD AHHH so scary!!!

you guys are talking about people being recruited into stanford from your school and all...

i haven't had anyone get in (let alone deferred) in the last ten years. we've gotten people into every ivy...and then there's stanford. people just laugh when i tell them where i applied early. they just don't like our school...which is why i prefer not to have any expectation come dec 15. haha i've already applied to like 6 other schools

Manzagal,
If your test is on the 16th, how are you going to be able to study when you are sitting and waiting for the email to arrive in your inbox on the 15th? haha

Tjan91,
Haha that's what I thought right after I left the class. I know that I'm going to be sitting in front of my computer checking my email account every 5 seconds while studying physics. That will be fun...haha.

9 dayyyyyssss come on!!!!

do results come 12 A.M. on the 15th or during the day (like in the afternoon)?

I think it's supposed to be at 3pm...

mhmmmm 3pm pacific time

Manzagal3: Ouchh that kinda sucks. My school sends someone to a top school every ONCE in a while (maybe 6-8 top schools in the past decade), and about half are recruits. I'm in Orange btw. Good luck to you!!! Our fate lies in the hands of Hugo Reyes-Centeno, as does the fate of Ohio.

Just a friendly warning. Last year my daughter didn't get her SCEA acceptance email until around 11PM EST on the day they came out. Her friend didn't get her deferred email until the next day. Several others they know got their reject emails earlier. Don't be alarmed if you end up waiting longer than you expect. Last year they appear to have been sent out in batches of some sort and I don't think the order necessarily meant anything. GOOD LUCK!!!

usermom: thanks for the warning :)

oy...3 p.m. pacific=6 p.m. eastern (sooo late!)...school is going to be hell that day haha. but that applies to everyone in my school basically so all my friends and i will be jittery together.

MisterMax: Good luck to you too!!! I hope you're one of the few at your school who gets into a top school! My school is quite scary; we usually have about 20 students each year who end up going to the top tier schools (Stanford + the ivy league). I'll be quite glad when this whole college admissions extravaganza is over, because it's getting so competitive at my school. Some people are starting to get really nasty about the recruiting process, and it's just not nice ):
I hope Hugo is kind to us...and Ohio (:

OUR SCHOOL TOO!
people are really crazy about admissions
we usually send 5 or 6 kids to ivies, but along the way people are VICIOUS about the entire thing
like that talk about people behind each other's back, etc.
well, i can't really be above the blame, because my friend and i are the ones who always initiate the opinionatedness and elitism when it comes to this subject
but still. it sucks.

^^lol, oh Oprah...

The people at my school are super nice and encouraging about each other's college-y goals. But then again, we have like...3? people applying to top-tier schools. Maybe 4. haha. 0-1 of whom may get in, if history proves accurate. That would SUCK if everyone was nasty and vicious and elite about the whole thing. And it'll only intensify when acceptance/rejection letters come out :/

Haha XD I'm just not going to tell people where I get accepted/rejected. I made the mistake of telling my friends where I'm applying, and somehow random friend-ish people know and start discussing various applications with me. I mean, it's CRAZY! I can't go 5 minutes at school without hearing nasty remarks about someone applying to an Ivy who "doesn't have a chance in heck because they are ridiculously stupid". < actual quote I heard in one of my classes. I wish people would just let other people apply to where they want to without being harassed or belittled.

I'm glad no one else from my school posts in this thread...at least I hope they don't nervous laughter hehhh...

manzagal3- i totally empathize. the quote "doesn't have a chance in heck because they are ridiculously stupid" (minus the heck...i haven't heard someone use that word in years) is an exact quote that circulates around my school. my school only has 600 people too so scathing rumors travel super fast! as if students needed more stress on top of college apps...
