URI---- believe they refer to University of Rhode Island

hey! from australia. interested in linguistics/astrophys

*
University of Rhode Island* afaik

hi…i got into yale ea but was still thinking of swarthmore. i moved from yes to no about 15 times, and then submitted the thing at 11:58 pm 2nd jan. beat that anyone.
in any case, do they even have an app status page? couldn’t find it at all.

I submitted my CommonApp the 21st and I still haven’t gotten an appstatus link… has anyone else?

I haven’t, and I submitted it pretty early too. Should we be getting one?

Hey there!

I’m from a small little town in Westchester (near manhattan). I’m looking to double major in Philosophy and Psychology, but i’m also interested in the Interpretation Theory and Educational Studies fields

Swarthmore rocks.

OK people, what do you most love about Swarthmore?

For me, Swarthmore’s “intellectualism” is most appealing I want to be able to discuss, debate and exchange ideas with anybody from the professor to my roommate.

be careful about writing an essay about how “intellectual” you are. it could come off wrong (but I know what you mean).

gah, swarthmore, I love you so, but alas, it is unrequited.

Yeah “intellectualism” doesn’t really capture all I meant… but you get the gist :)

plus the campus looks so beautiful!

Hi!

I went through your present experience (angst, pressure, hoping, wishing, paperwork, paperwork, paperwork, etc. LOL) last year.

I was lucky enough to be accepted to Swarthmore and I wanted to let you know that it does indeed rock!

The staff is top notch, the lectures etc. are amazing, the campus gorgeous. There is a SEPTA station at the bottom of campus which takes you to Philly in 15-20 minutes. Not only is there a tri-consortium with Bryn Mawr and Haverford but we can take classes at UPenn!

While the academics are challenging (who would want it any other way right?) the students are fantastic. You will meet people from all over the globe who are not only intelligent but have all kinds of interesting passions. Contrary to myth, Swatties DO have fun!

What I love best here is the students are down to earth and supportive. Sharing ideas, stories, projects, conversations definitely is a big part of campus life. I think of it as a community of open hearts and minds.

I wish you all the best of luck and hope to see some of you future Swatties next year!

Thanks, tsprite! :)

I have a question. Does Swarthmore send an e-mail with log-in details? I mean… I haven’t received anything and I am worried because I applied by snail mail and I think of all kinds of negative scenarios that include my lost application. Did you guys heard early from them?

My D has not heard yet either. She applied in December. Somewhere here someone posted that Swarthmore admissions indicated that email confirmations would not be sent out until late January because they rec’d so many apps or something.

^ Yes:

*Dear feathers.o’four,

Due to the large volume of applications, we are still processing materials. We will send you a personalized checklist link that will enable you to view the status of your submission by January 29, 2010. Until that date, we will be unable to provide you with a list of missing materials.

We appreciate your patience as we will be in touch with you by the end of the month. In the meantime, please refer to our Application FAQ, [Swarthmore College | Admissions | Apply to Swarthmore](Apply to Swarthmore :: Admissions & Aid :: Swarthmore College), for responses to our most commonly received questions.*

Haha, did anyone else get that e-mail like three times? :P

I got that email too. Thanks God…one time though, but it was enough. Now I can sleep peacefully.

I got it three times! weird

I didn’t get that email! Is it because I’m applying ED II? Or because swarthmore is secretly plotting to make me an anxious, worried, frenzied mess?
