I don't think this thread exists yet, so here we go. I'll get things started:

I'm from India, lived in Singapore practically my whole life. I have academic interests in economics, political science, creative writing, sociology, math, history and international affairs.

I’m from New York (Long Island, to be exact), and I’m looking to double concentrate/major in biology and english (nonfiction writing, or something along those lines). I look forward to getting to know everyone! =]

I’m from NYC, with interests in women’s studies, English, history, anthro, sociology, psych, religion…the list goes on and on
EC-wise, I’m into choral/a capella stuff and theatre mostly, but, again, I have an absurd number of things I want to try.

Hey guys! I’m Matt, ED applicant and official member of the Vassar Class of 2014. I hope CC will help you through this process all the way until April and if you have any questions about the application process, just ask. Hope to see you all next fall!

i’m from NJ, but please don’t think i’m like the people on MTV’S Jersey shore lmao.

btw quick question - my guidance counselor told me if i do ED and if vassar doesn’t give enough financial aid i’d have a big problem. do you think that’s true? that’s sort of why i’m doing regular… because of the affordability issue.

yes it would be a problem if they didn’t give sufficient financial aid. if you’re in a position such that you have to compare aid packages, please apply RD. it’s not a good idea to bind yourself to a financially uncomfortable situation.

Vassar also gives one of the most generous financial aid packages. So if it’s your top choice, I’m sure the financial aid office will accommodate your financial situation.

If you apply ED and if the financial aid package is impossible (meaning that you won’t be able to afford it) you can opt out. But that would only be in certain instances.

I’m submitting my application tonight!! Still not sure what to put on the Your Space section…I don’t even think I have a shot…but it’s worth a try!

onniecay, if you want to send in a video for your Your Space, a video link is actually preferable. That way, in case the CD doesn’t work on their computer, your video is still hosted online.

trackkid4224, you’ll hear in April. The only things you get from Vassar are your VassarID and PIN, which you already have. Other than that, it’ll be your acceptance letter in April. Good luck!

Just out of curiosity, what did you guys put in your Your Space? I put in a lot of excerpts from my writing portfolio, a more casual blurb about my daily life, and some photos I took last year. I’m thinking about attaching a video of my senior dance solo, but snice it’s still so raw I might not.

a note on Vassar’s financial aid: I’ve been accepted ED (yay!) but I went thru the whole process with seven schools last year. Vassar offered me the least amount of financial aid, but the office seemed willing to look at financials with me again. They have an appeal process, and they would accept an ED candidate’s decision to apply elsewhere should the financial aid office not be able to offer an acceptable financial package.

Good luck everyone!! I’m excited to meet you all next fall :)

That’s good to hear, hamer142. If mine isn’t enough, I’ll probably have to appeal as well.

Slightly related, I have a friend who got accepted into WashU in St. Louis last year. THe money wasn’t enough so she appealed. They flew her out to St. Louis (on their dime!), interviewed her, and her fin.aid was doubled.
