I don't think this thread exists yet, so here we go. I'll get things started:

I'm from India, lived in Singapore practically my whole life. I have academic interests in economics, political science, creative writing, sociology, math, history and international affairs.

I’m from Michigan, the mitten/high-five state, and I’m used to below freezing winters.
Basically, it’s Swat’s political science and history department for me. However, if I don’t accepted, I’m relying on the Tri-Co relationship with Bryn Mawr and Haverford to pull me through.

@srrinath: I see that you have cross-posted this thread in the Georgetown forum. Please tell us, if you would. Where else are you applying/considering? My DS is also applying to Georgetown as well as Swarthmore, and a few other schools ;)

Well you can look up my post history but I’ll be applying to 17 colleges in the RD round. I know it’s a lot but I have one rather large deficit in my application and I can’t take my chances.

Srrinath we meet again! Lol. Wow on the colleges - I thought I was doing a lot with 11 total…but good luck! CM92 I’m from Michigan too! Interests: neuroscience and linguistics.

I’m from MN, and my interests at Swarthmore lie in English Lit and Sociology + Anthropology. I applied ED to Barnard College of Columbia University and UChicago and was deferred at both places. Regular decision, I’ve applied to Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, Johns Hopkins, NYU, Vassar, the U of MN (accepted!), and Northwestern.

Like srrinath, I’ve chosen to apply to so many schools because of a “deficit” in my app (a lower GPA). I have a very well-rounded and extremely good writing resume; I completed my eighth novel this past summer. The goal is to work as an editor and publish novels for the rest of my life. :)

That’s really impressive. I guess we have writing in common too. Although I wouldn’t dream of writing a novel anytime soon; I stick around the shorter forms.

As for the writing, I learned a long time ago it’s best to focus on what I like and do best, so a lot of my attention has really been focused on the writing. I hope it’ll end up working in my favor.
