<p>rejected, unfortunately</p>

<p>@watercurses: how did you know? via email? or you’ve got letters?</p>

<p>ps: sorry to hear that. :(</p>

<p>Rejected =(</p>

<p>I got the rejection letter in the mail yesterday.</p>

<p>I was waitlisted; letter came in the mail today. It’s actually better than I expected, so I’m okay with it. </p>

<p>Congrats to those accepted! =)</p>

<p>D is in Chicago and has not received anything.</p>

<p>rejected, got it in the mail today in MA</p>

<p>sounds like a lot of waitlistees…?? how many do they normally accept off the waitlist?</p>

<p>I was totally expecting the letter today - I live in NY. But I suppose now I’ll have to wait until Monday :*( on the other hand, though - I got my Oberlin acceptance letter today! But on the whole I’m much, much more excited about Swarthmore. When I visited I thought it was just heavenly.</p>

<p>Waitlisted.</p>

<p>@ItalianBlonde109 According to a blog post, there were around 1000 waitlisted a few years back, and the most accepted off the waitlist was 75.</p>

<p>waitlisted as well, but I decided a few months ago that it really wouldn’t be the right place for me. maybe they realized that as well…</p>

<p>last year, I think they took 12 off the waitlist</p>

<p>did they send all the decisions in the mail or have they sent them by email too or on their site??</p>

<p>I believe it’s all mail.</p>

<p>I’m almost certain they have email notifications for internationals.</p>

<p>got letter today, LI NY, DD rejected (we both kinda suspected, although high stats didn’t get a chance to interview & Over Represented Majority). Congrats to all accepted, good luck to those waitlisted.</p>

<p>DS was…</p>

  • Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): N/A
  • Weighted GPA (out of 4.0): N/A
  • Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): Doesn’t rank, but top 5% (out of a class of 40 though, so it’s not saying much)

    </code></pre>

<p>Subjective:</p>

<pre><code>* Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis):Inaugural Student Parliament President; Student News Editor; MUN; Theatre; Soccer; a few other organizations and one-time projects. Overextended myself, but small school = a lot of opportunities to take initiative

  • Job/Work Experience: N/A
  • Volunteer/Community service: School-based work, i.e. Teaching Rural Chinese Kids, Organizing Triathlon, Fundraisers, etc.
  • Summer Activities: IB Stanford Summer School 2009
  • Essays: Very Rushed (last 48 hours) CommonApp - On cultural identity and how I realized I wasn’t as open-minded as I thought I was. Short Answer - on how being Student President can be so frustrating yet ultimately rewarding and eye-opening. Supplement: talked about Swarthmore’s unique quirks and how I adore them
  • Teacher Recommendation: English (teacher for 2 years) and Biology (teacher for 4 years). Great personal relationships with them. Biology rec was great, didn’t see English.
  • Counselor Rec: Dunno, but Counselor knows all of us since there are only around 10 students applying to US schools
  • Additional Rec: N/A
  • Interview: N/A
    </code></pre>

<p>Other</p>

<pre><code>* Applied for Financial Aid?: Nope, was afraid it would hurt chances as I am an Int’l applicant, and very fortunate to have a family able to support.

  • Intended Major: Nothing to do with numbers. Sth in the Social Studies/ Humanites.
  • State (if domestic applicant): N/A
  • Country (if international applicant): Canadian born and raised, but lived in China for the past 5 - 6 years.
  • School Type: Fairly new school (<15 years), not very competitive, probable grade inflation.
  • Ethnicity: Asian
  • Gender: Female
  • Income Bracket:
  • Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Nada.
    </code></pre>

<p>Reflection</p>

<pre><code>* Strengths: Extra-curriculars, teacher recs, maybe grades?

  • Weaknesses: Huge tendency to procrastinate so essays were all rushed. Why Swarthmore answer was probably very generic.
  • Why you think you were accepted: Interesting international background; teacher recs; extra-curriculars; didn’t apply for financial aid.
    </code></pre>

<p>General Comments: First official acceptance! Swarthmore sounds more appealing the more I read about it. Good luck to everybody :)</p>

<p>omg. I am an int’l and I don’t get any emails. omg.</p>

<p>@yuan_qu, do you recieve your admission decision by mail or email?</p>
