***Official Thread for 2014 BSMD applicants***

Is anyone having trouble filling out the Drexel Med Supplement for the Villanova program? I filled out the entire form and saved it to my computer like the instructions said, but the entire pdf file was blank when I opened it back up to upload onto the Villanova portal. Am I doing something wrong?

Does anyone know when Boston University interview notifications are sent out?

Those of you applying through Union did you interview at Union at all?
Also if you know that your app was forwarded to AMC does that mean you will definitely get a request for a supplement from AMC at some point? or do they select from the forwarded who they will ask for supplements from?

A friend of mine did interview at Union and has received his acceptance and his AMC supplement. My impression is that AMC sends supplements to all applicants forwarded to them by the feed school, from which they determine interview candidates.

@Midhelper, I personally did not interview with Union. I agree with what silverwad said, though. Union sends some applications to AMC and those students are given the supplemental application. And some are chose for an interview with AMC next. I am under the impression that AMC sends the supplement in batches so if you didn’t get it yet, there is still lots of time!

Any one heard from SBU this week? I have lost hope … If they are only going to send snail mail rejections, why say they are still reviewing apps?

nope, nothing from SBU.

My son just had a telephone “interview” with Rosemont and will have an in-person advice session if he is picked for interview at Drexel. Apparently he was told Rosemont sent applications from around 10 students to Drexel for 2 places in the 3+4 program and 5 places in the 4+4 programs. If this is the case, the chance of being offered a place is really high.

Also, has anyone applied to the Robert Morris/Drexel program? My son just got a call from Robert Morris telling him that they have nominated him to Drexel.

@IMGDAD, wow, only 10 people? I thought there were a lot more applicants and that Rosemont would forward more… I feel so grateful now

So if we didnt get an interview notification from SBU should we just assume it’ll be snail mail

@IMGDAD Congrats to your son - so exciting.

@IMGDAD: Yeah, congrats to your son! Is he on CC through this process too?

@GreenSage: In that case, awesome job with Rosemont!

So how many people have heard from RPI? I still haven’t heard back. And how do they notify us?

That sounds quite good IMGDAD. Based on the person who posted last year, the number of people being sent over to Drexel and the number of spots given to Robert Morris were about equal, making it a guaranteed seat.

@starlight27, I haven’t heard anything from RPI yet either, but I know of only one person who got the RPI/AMC supplement yesterday. Not much else, though.

@Midhelper and Texaspg, thank you. We will see if it is really the case. I think of all the programs he has applied to, the first prize, as far as I am concern, would be the SBU/GW program, followed by Rosemont/Drexel, with the rest being “so-so” since the other Drexel programs that he has applied to (Muhlenberg and Robert Morris) are only part Drexel with him having to spend some time in the regional hospital, instead of Hahnemann University Hospital. The least one is probably the USciences/TCMC program and I have been telling him that if that is the only BS/MD program he gets in, he may be better off going to the BS/DO program at Gannon/LECOM since LECOM is a lot more established than TCMC.

@starlight27, no my son is not on CC. He did that last year but has not done it this year because he was just so discouraged by everyone’s ultra-impressive stats. That is why he decided to apply to a BS/DO program.

Funny…My pal spoke to RPI admissions and they said that they have NOT yet extended invites to AMC…maybe that is why there are NO(possibly one) reports of such activity!

RPI was really late getting all the applications together because of all the common app problems. When I called towards the end of november, they were still trying to get things together and said they’ll finish around the first week of december. So I would expect interview notifications to be at least 2-3 weeks later than last years notification dates.

Thanks for the info everyone!! Y’all are the best :D

@IMGDAD- yeah, ppl go crazy on CC. Some of it is probably lies, so sucks that it has the effect of discouraging people. Awesome that he’s applying to DO programs though! Obviously he can’t have THAT much to be discouraged about… these are all ridiculously hard to get into haha. Good luck to him :)

@starlight27, yes, my son has NOT applied to any UG only school. His back-up (or maybe his choice even if he is offered a place in the BS/MD program, depending on where) is the Gannon/LECOM program that he has already been accepted into. He likes the program and the Gannon/LECOM campus because he prefers small size schools.

Son (and I) has mind set on BS/MD program, I am so stressed right now mostly because of his second quarter grades. He got straight A first quarter, but second quarter, he is mostly Bs. My guess is that he probably will mostly Bs in mid-term as well. I wonder how important the senior year grades are? Anyone has similar experience? what is the outcome? Thanks in advance.
