Thought of creating one single thread where this year's applicants can ask questions and we can answer.

I think that using this thread would be preferable to everybody creating their own thread for their questions, good thinking.

Caught between ROCK and HARDPLACE when one needs to apply to 20 plus schools and the COMMON APP limits @20 !!! Most schools, other than Pitt/Baylor/PSU will ONLY accept COMMON APP…so…how does one do it and also apply to 6 to 10 UG backups?.

I didn’t apply to 10 undergrad backups, mainly to programs that I could see myself going to the undergrad schools even if I didn’t get into the program. Since when is there a 20 school limit?

Common app has always had a 20 limit.

Anyone have any tips on utpact and rice/Baylor?

Is it possible for students to set up a 2nd Common App registration? I thought that they could because the essay written may be appropriate for a group of schools but a different one may be required for other ones.

Where is every one in the application process?

No, one can’t setup a second commonapp. They are allowed submit an app to one college and change what is being sent to a second college using some kind of a versioning in commonapp (at least it was that way until last year).

One tip for Rice - Rice/Baylor has a different deadline than early or regular, normally around Dec 1st.

Hi my name is david,
I’m applying to the brooklyn college ba-md program and I was wondering if I can get any advice?
My gpa is 92H (unweighted) and my Sat is 2200 is that good? What do you think I should do to help me get in?
Thank you so much!

Ohhh and one more thing: Can you rate these from most important to least important:
Doctor shadowing
Scientific research
Hospital volunteer work
Nursing home volunteer work
Riding along with an ambulance
Thank you so much :)

Well, as a parent who’s new to the BS/MD application process (and reveling in all the new spreadsheets it creates!), I think this thread could be of real value . . . so long as it doesn’t degenerate into a “chances” thread.

So, david11230, if you have questions about the admissions process, that’s great. If you want to know what your chances are, just use the “chances” forum - that’s what it’s there for. As for “rating” all the extracurriculars you’ve listed, that’s easy: the important ones are the ones you’ve done, and the rest don’t matter.

And I’d second texaspg’s tip above: Look out for the deadlines - they’re earlier than you think!!!

thank you so much for replying! sorry about the whole “chance” thing i didn’t know there was a place for that. and as for the extra curriculars i was wondering which one was the most important because i still have a few months and i was wondering which one was the best to work on?

I would guess that the best activity would be the one that’s most meaningful for you, and that depends on your individual interests.

I’m impressed that you’d even attempt to take on something new right in the middle of application season - so good for you if you’re able to pull it off! :)

normally people apply to about 10-15. 20 is a on the higher side. Apply to just one or 2 undergrad back up. make sure that you will definately get in if you call that a back up. the rest can be BSMD. some undergrad schools that offer BSMD are good. So those will also count as your undergrad back up.
dont create 2 common app accounts as that would disqualify both accounts.
Lastly, dont write your real name on the forum. Colleges read this. So be careful. All the best everyone. Finish your application process before school starts and dont wait till the end.

Hey everyone! Im from good ol Texas and am applying to the instate BS/MDs. can yall post some stats? (please haha it would be helpful to compare myself to those who’ve made it into these programs)

@texaspg thanks for the tip man! ill keep in mind

good luck on your bs/md endeavors yall! i hope everyone makes it into their top choices this year :)
