Just applied for Jump Start! I am SO excited! :)

i’ve actually heard that ubc is incredibly culturally diverse…but i haven’t been there so i don’t really know…
i’m from costa rica so there’s at least one latina you’ll see in september haha :)

i just applied for jumpstart too! they’re supposed to say if i’m admitted in about a week or so…excitingg!!

I’m starting to get worried… I sent my interim marks in 4-6 weeks ago and nothing…

And apparently with everyone accepting there’s less and less spots available.

Are you allowed to use grade 12 maths as well as calc I to apply? If not I need to use social which I got an 80 in, but I got 100% in calc I… (I’m more of a maths/physics person than social)

I took the plunge, signed up for JumpStart today…!!!

And maszki, I’m not sure personally about your math situation or when you’ll hear back. Seems like it’s taking a while though, so maybe e-mail and ask?

Got accepted today!!! YES! 2500 entrance scholarship too-I can purchase quite a large sum of pot with that :D

Wow I’m actually so stoked. Vancouver is the greatest city in the world, UBC is a great school, and the campus is amazingly beautiful and I’ll finally live by an ocean.

Congratz to everyone who got in!

Yay maszki!, i knew you’d get in, and congratz on the 2500 scholarship. I’m excited for Vancouver too, I mean the campus is like on the Pacific Ocean. Ive seen the virtual tour so much, I cant wait to actually see it, hope i can make a visit this summer.

Yeah, it’s strange for me because I’m a water-loving nature person, the type of person who needs to be in a city with water.

Yet I was born and raised in the prairies, and my parents hate to travel, so I’ve only seen the ocean once or twice and am never by nature or water.

I’m going to turn into a kayak/beach junky my first week most likely, lol. I’ll be in complete awe. Yeah I want to visit this summer as well.

Congrats!!!
Haha um, i don’t think dealers accept scholarships as payment for dank???
Regardless, UBC is about the be the ish. Soooooo stoked! August in the Pac NW is like, the best thing you’ll ever experience, EVER! So do jumpstart. Yes yes yes!!!

anyone here get the housing offer yet, some people have gotten theres already, i thought it was june. i applied and paid for housing back in january. anyways its guaranteed for first years anyways right

Yes I got mine May 20th I think and they had a week deadline, so I had to accept before the 27th.

Not too sure why you havn’t gotten yours yet, did you check your email?

lucky! i havent received mine either…shouldnt they all be given out around the same time…?

oh and btw, which residence where u offered?? and was it single or double?

Hey guys, anyone started on there worklists?? I just finished my first one, not sure if i’ll use it, i followed the reqs for bio from the online calendar thing and finished my worklist. im just worried because its 34 credits and i feel like ill burn out, lol. Anyone else working on worklists or completed some?

Yellow, do you know when we actually register for our courses?

And yeah I’m not too sure about the schedule, I’ve been told that university is quite a bit harder than high school, and I think the physics and maybe chem courses have labs as well.

I think I might opt for 4 courses per semester rather than 5, I’d rather 4 As than 5 Bs anyways, and I’d rather underestimate myself/university difficulty than overestimate.

But then again that’s just my useless opinion lol.

you can check my going on ssc and clicking course schedule, then click 2010 winter on the side and it says on the top in red your registration time and date. its really important to make worklists so when the time comes your not frantically searching and trying to throw something together.

I think your right, I was thinking the exact same thing, that I need to start easy and get accustomed to the campus, im just nervous about satisfying the program’s reqs, im definitely gonna talk to the advisor before i decide on anything, and make a couple more worklists.

Thank you all for your great posts :). I have lived in vancouver for the past 12 years, and I never really thought of attending UBC; however, this thread totally convinced me to send an application in.

I just had a few questions about the scholarships. So basically, with a 90%+ average a $2000 dollar scholarship will be awarded to the student? And is this scholarship like $2000 per year or… 1 year? Are there even bigger scholarships for students? And what kinds of grades do I need to have to have any chance at these bigger scholarships.

Thanks.

Wow…really great thread you guys.
I’m a Canadian citizen currently studying in the US and intending to apply to a Canadian university this, well, upcoming couple of months and this thread just boosted UBC close to the top of my list of choices.
I have a general question. What was the average SAT/ACT accepted scores for 2010? I’m trying to see if I should retake my ACTs (29 comp) and SATs (1250 or 1860 on other scale).

im a chinese studying a levels in singapore, my sat I is 2100,and sat II (chem+physics+math 2) should be above 2300. A section leader in the drama
society(i think my activities at school should be enough). organised and volunteered to give free tuition to poor kids for two years.

but my high school grades are not very good.
I want to apply to UBC, uni of washington seattle, mcgill, georgia tech and purdue
what are my chances?

Im really worried

Hey help me out too…I am an indian student with SAT score of 1910. I still dun noe my GPA…we have percentage system here…but I got 70% in my last midterm, and hope to raise it up to 80-90% by my boards…I am applying to UBC… do I stand any chance? I will also apply for aid…help me!!

is it easier for vancouver residents to get in??
