Official UC Irvine Fall 2017 Transfer Applicant Thread

Where it shows your status it’ll change, and it will say congratulations. At the bottom it’ll also say next steps and ask you submit official scores and transcripts.

@Sekime check the general catalog and assist.org, it’ll tell you the pathway for your major. It’ll even say what classes are the equivalent at your cc (for the ones available.)

For me last year my portal was normally purple themed, and dull until the day of notification. If you were waitlisted it turned green. If you were admitted the whole top portion of the screen says congratulations, and you get 3 boxes below it in multiple colors that ask if you want to SIR etc. if you do a google image search you can find it. It was one of the happiest moments of my life, lame as that sounds lol, I need more happy life moments! Anyone wanna go on a date with a 30 something white dude, Lol just kidding. For me it was the first major life accomplishment since turning things around and quitting drinking. I had gotten a GED in jail, never walked in a graduation, never did anything exceptional except drink everyone under the table till there was no one left. I called my dad who is in his 60s and told him, then my mom and went for a walk to take pictures at the beach and soak in gratitude. I’ve had many more happy moments since, and I still can’t believe I’m a student at UCI sometimes. It’s a really beautiful campus, at least it is to me, because of what it means to me. I wish for you all something like that too, wherever you go. When all the waiting and hard work suddenly pays off, it’s about more than the opportunity before you.

Hey guys,
I’m a 2nd year biology major at UCR with a Cumulative GPA of 3.33
Math and science GPA: 3.67
Life science core GPA: 3.49
Failed a bio course once and got a B+ in a second try!
Got C+ in both of the English courses!
Do i have any chances?

@truesciencelover Hey! Why is it that you are looking to transfer to another UC? :-?

How are my chances for UCI. Thank You in advance!

Major: Computer Science and Engineering
GPA: 3.56
Major GPA: 3.8
IGETC: Completed
Prereqs: Will Finish By Spring
TAG: No TAG
ECs: Tutored low income immigrants that are in high school. A few other ECs.

This website makes me so nervous. https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major
Look at this website for your chances people.

@sodapop111 thanks for sharing.
Well… looks like they admitted more people but for cs hellaaaaaa apps
This was sad…

@mayuma GPA is on the lower end for CS… Did you TAG?
@loyalfan49 33% admit rate - should not be too bad  Compare to SD 25%.

Btw, does anyone know if CS30 is needed for UCI CS transfer? I am taking it at my CC right now, and while it’s not too bad, I feel like I got too much on my plate right now with another math class, full time job and a wedding coming up in 3 months. If I 100% do not need it, I can still drop it with a W and retake with a better prof at an actual university… My current prof is horror >:)

Chance me?

Major: Informatics
GPA: 3.35
Major GPA: 3.455
IGETC: Completed
Prereqs: Completed
TAG: No TAG
ECs: Working for the Infomation Technology Agency of Los Angeles as a Student Worker

@Nataliee177 a huge chunk of people heard last year between 4/14 - 4/19 (both tag and no tag), including me (no tag - 4/15). There is no reason to target a specific date, because it seems that UCI (unlike ucsd) actually does rolling admissions - after 4/14 there was a number of acceptances almost every day, including Saturdays.

@lenocturne I think as long as you have 2 cs courses(not including intro) with objc oriented/fundamentals/data structures etc you should be good . The more the merrier

@BackNSchool83 I totally agree. UCLA’s prestige is very tempting. I honestly don’t think that I’m going to get in because of how competitive the major is, but it’s nice to know that UCI is a viable option. It’s so awesome getting the chance to talk to a PSB major because I didn’t know very much about the difference between the two majors. I mostly applied as a PSB major so that I wouldn’t have to take calc lol

Wait if the open house is on the 22nd then wouldn’t it make more sense that they release admissions on the 14th instead of the 21st?

@5HisLife Who gives out admission decision on the 14th? UCI and UCLA give them out on the 21st right ?

@5HisLife @morocco123 I guess according to last year’s thread, admissions began as early as the 14th (was a Thursday, so will be April 13th for us), with the biggest batch being on April 21. I guess we will find out if it will be next week after this weekend.

Thanks for that ! Good luck to ya  @Nataliee177

@moroccan99 No problem  You too!!

@BackNSchool83 Did you receive your acceptance through email or you had to keep checking everyday?

How are my chances for UCI? I completed two years at University of Arizona and one year at Santa Barbara City College. (Transferring from Santa Barbara City College)

Major: Business Econ
Alt Major: Quantaitive Econ
GPA: 3.46
Major GPA: Not really sure? Slightly higher maybe.
IGETC: Most likely completed
Prereqs: All but one
TAG: UCSB (Already denied)
ECs: Accounting Club at U of A, Investments Club at U of A, worked full time job after leaving Arizona.
Personal Insights: Ehh ok didn’t spend too much time on them. 8/10.
Applied to UCSB, UCD, UCSD, UCI

*Fall semester at SBCC got a 4.0 so I hope that will help. I feel like having a lot of out of state coursework hurts my chances?
