Official UC Irvine Fall 2017 Transfer Applicant Thread

@DLoading the students who got admitted, despite lower GPAs, most likely completed all of their pre-reqs/IGETC, or had great personal statements. I was admitted with a lower gpa (3.22) but I finished everything I needed so that might be a factor. I have friends with 3.8-3.9 gpas still waiting because they missed a pre-req

ADMITTED

Irvine valley college
Gpa 3.21

congrats i am from IVC as well, CS as well, 3.34

when did u receive ?

I’m not very familiar with how waitlist works.
Can someone explains the waitlist process, and when will I be updated if I’m on the waitlist.

@Tomiscoming I believe it will give you the option on the portal and if you click it, you will be put into a pool of applicants who also are waitlist. They’ll choose however many from the waitlist to fill the spots of those who did not SIR. I think people found out around mid to late may last year if not early June according to last year’s thread.

Always wondering what is the “UC general education requirements” means on the UC application? I Asked my consular , she said just check yes. Never explained to me. Anybody know?

@CaffreyH it’s this:

http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/glossary/seven-course%20pattern.html

2 courses in English composition
1 course in mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning
4 courses from at least 2 of the following subject areas:
arts and humanities
social and behavioral sciences
physical and biological sciences

So, basically 2 english classes, 1 math, 4 combination of sciences, humanities and/or arts.

Attention BioSci majors

Did any of you get accepted with missing prereqs?

My gpa is 3.6 and i have IGETC done and every prereq done except for 1 last semester of organic chemistry.

I’m finishing my 1 year of bio prereq by this spring, but I was hoping to finish ochem in the summer.

Am I doomed if I’m missing one semester of ochem?

@zotfembot I was a biosci major before switching to PSB and I believe when I was planning out my classes with my counselor, according to Assist.org, ochem is required to be finished before transfer but you can always check the website to be sure!

@zotfembot not a bio major but I’m in the same boat, missing my last calc class for Business Econ, hope it’s not the deal breaker for me either.

@futureanteater97 @MichaelJarvis

I applied through TAG too, I hope i can get in. Michael are you going to try to take calc in the summer? I hope they would atleast allow me to try to take it over the summer. It’s one stupid class that I have left.

@futureanteater97 so according to last year’s thread, the latest time that people found out is early June?

@Tomiscoming from last year’s thread, people were admitted off the waitlist around may 25-29

@zotfembot ya that’s what I’m planning to do, I sent a message through the portal and my counselor said it was noted.

ANYONE MISSING PRE-REQS

send a message to your counselor on the message center. they need to okay an extension to let you finish by summer. the deadline is almost always spring prior to entry. you do need to contact your counselor so they can know. you’ll likely get a yes but DO IT ASAP!!!

@gabyitzelq1 this might be a stupid question but if you end up completing all your pre reqs but one are you automatically rejected? Or are you just not as likely to get in? I guess it depends on the major too.

@zotfembot same I’m a biosci major too and I told my counselors during fall quarter about my situation of not being able to finish ochem until summer (IGETC and everything else is done before spring) so yeah I was wondering if that can be a reason for rejection :open_mouth:

I saw someone got accepted last night and they had the same exact statistics as me and major. Plus I’ve finished all my prerequisites, even for my alternative! Why am I not receiving my “yes” or “no” yet ??

at this point, it feels more like a lottery haha but i’m pretty sure they have a system
