@futurelawyer88 “Celebrate UCI for Transfers” if you’ve been admitted they would have emailed you or should have at least. For some reason these emails end up in my gmail promotions inbox so check there. This makes sense since we were saying it gives all of the people who are hearing back so late a chance to go to these celebration days.I think I’m going to only to to this one on May 5th since tomorrow is most likely all of the peppy freshman and being on this thread has shown me what a community there is among transfers so I’ll only be going to the CHP info meeting tmw but there’s no reason not to celebrate twice haha we’ve earned it.
So like once I login into admission there’s huge letter saying “You have been admitted to UCI” so that means I was admitted through general admission and not TAG? Sorry just trying to make sure and clear confusion
I got in on Thursday (4/20). I am a UC-UC transfer, and kind of in shock. Never thought this would happen especially cause I’m at UCSC right now and applied for engineering. Here’s my stats:
Major: Chemical Engineering
GPA: 3.7 (major GPA around 3.74ish when applied)
pre-req’s: done by the end of this spring
IGETC: don’t know what the heck this is, but if it’s something about finishing GE’s then NO it I’m not done
Applied: SJSU, UCLA, UCD, UCB,UCI,UCSD,UCSB
Admitted: SJSU,UCSB, UCI,UCSD,UCD
Pending: UCLA,UCB
Rejected: None yet
There aren’t many of us UC-UC transfers so I’ll make a thread posting how I think I got in later, and link it to this thread so people now and in the future can get my advice. The main key; get your pre-reqs done. Especially for engineering. Hope everyone gets in!
The acceptance rate for business administration 8
Is 2.5 % this year as they had only accepted 280 students (freshmen and transfer combined) out of 11,000 applicants.
@keeponrunning14 what about people applying into Donald Bren department (CS type majors)?
@mochacoffee
When I got admitted, this is the email they sent me
"Congratulations on your admission to the University of California, Irvine through the Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) Program!
By meeting the TAG eligibility requirements, you have already proven to be an extremely talented, driven, and hard-working individual, and we believe you will thrive here at UCI."
It doesn’t say anything about tag on the portal.
Hey guys, I got waitlisted for Business Admin. I have a 3.7 GPA, what are my chances for getting admitted from the waitlist? It would really mean a lot for anyone who responds
Thanks man!
Sorry I am not sure. I only know the acceptance rate since I was admitted to their business school. I wish you luck!!!
Can I ask u where u got the information from that only 280 people were admitted to Business Admin this year?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1819143-official-uci-fall-2016-transfer-thread-p121.html from last year. the 23rd of April was the big day last year for most. After that there was a 5 day gap, then alternative majors were notified, then a few days later almost all waitlist. The final notifications were rejections.
I am admitted to the major and they sent out me a congratulatory email from Uci’s Paul merage school of business stating :" We had over 11,000 applications for only 280 seats (freshmen and transfers, combined). "
Oh I would go with UCI. Plus if you don’t like the Cog Sci psychology major you are in you can join us in the Psych and Social Behavior major at social ecology where people who want to do clinical work are at. Would be an easy enough switch. Plus, UCI is a nice place, nice weather, and a more competitive university than UCR.
I wish you good luck!!
I don’t know, but I was able to add CLS, crim law and society as a second major once I got in. So you might be able to do the same if you had an alt major.
@BackNSchool83 Do you remember when you got your financial aid? They said they’ll send it around May, is it a rolling basis or is there a certain day when lots of people get them? UCI’s the last school that I’m waiting for and I want to know if I can afford it or not. Thanks!
You are a very considerate person, but you gotta look out for yourself in situations like this.
I was not aware of a transfer day on May 5th… O; but I will most likely not be able to go because of work

this thread followed everyones journey after admission last year. I learned of financial aid status on the 16th of may. I don’t know what it was for everyone else, but people tend to get things like this in waves. When you get that financial aid notification you still can’t enroll or do anything with it. What you have to do is wait till your school has it’s transfer student advising orientation, it’s not the regular orientation UCI puts on to show people the campus, that one is optional, this one is where you go to your school’s academic office and after a review of the school graduation requirements you are all taken into a computer lab and given access to webreg to enroll in classes. If you have financial aid that automatically is applied to all fees and if there is more still to pay you have a certain amount of time to pay those fees.
Just got admitted for computer science in the past 10 mins or so. So relieved and happy!
