Official UCI Transfer admittance Thread

@fredfrep Is it really?! =X I mean I’m not -so- against being a CogSci major that I would risk getting my admission revoked just to change it to something as related as PSB. I’d gladly suck it up and SIR as a CogSci major if the alternative means not going to Irvine at all.

I’ve been hearing over and over that certain UCs do not admit by major. If thats the case, I hope Irvine is one of them and that requesting to change my major doesnt jeopardize anything.

^ Irvine admits to major, last column:

"Thank you for applying to the University of California, Irvine. After a thorough review of your application and supporting materials, we regret to inform you that we will be unable to offer you admission for the Application Term stated above.
Admissions officers thoroughly review each application and carefully balance many factors including grades, course work, test scores, honors and awards, work experience, community service, and leadership. If attending UC Irvine remains your ambition, you may establish your junior-level eligibility through an appropriate program of study at an accredited community college. Because UC Irvine is highly selective at the transfer level, we recommend you establish a strong academic record above minimum eligibility.

To learn more about transferring to UC Irvine, please visit [UCI Office of Admissions & Relations with Schools](http://www.admissions.uci.edu) or call our office at (949) 824-6703 between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Again, thank you for your interest in UC Irvine. We wish you every success in achieving your educational goals."

Really should’ve applied for psychology…

Was that today?!?!^^^

Looks like a freshman rejection letter

@ ragingzero

What were your stats, intended major, etc.?

It is a freshman rejection letter. LOL

UCB decision is in a few hours; UCLA already completed. Odd that UCI takes this long.

@randroid

if you still want to change your major, I think by what jdom24 said, I would change it to PSB when your enrolled at UCI, not before the SIR? Now I’m looking at it, I’m not going to take a risk but go try to change my major/minor (for me i’m just changing my minor) at the start of school

Edit:

UC Irvine

Q: What departments or majors, if any,
are students NOT allowed to switch
into once admitted?

A: Business Administration, Dance,
Engineering, Music, Nursing
Science. For remaining programs, change of major may be
available based on completion of
applicable prerequisites, program
capacity and additional review.

@fredfrep, have you been admitted already?

i hate it when my eyes trick me and i read my unchanged status wrong (i thought it said something about me being already notified). sheesh gave me a heart attack

@tyetin- it’s all a speculation, but from last years UCI thread i sifted through yesterday, I think a huge majority of the applicants were rejected from April 27- April 30th. And, it was around May 2nd-May 5th or so when 1000 applicants were put on wait list and the rest were rejected…so, we aren’t in the best position. but many of us still have a strong chance. all of the 1000 applicants were admitted in June, according to UCI/Ms.Sun

@irvine2014 no not yet :frowning:

I think majority of the applicants has not gotten anything from UCI yet, to what others are saying and what I am speculating, UCI is awaiting for those who got decision responses for UCD, UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB to see if they SIR yet, because SIR is a contract, you can’t just put SIR to everywhere you get admitted and later you tell them I am going to this one UC that I SIR’d, then sometimes they’ll make you go into the school (by ways of charging you additional tuition/but no financial aid), I heard some case like this happened at Cal Poly Pomona, CSU Fullerton, some UC’s (can’t recall)…

but my point is that Do Not SIR to everywhere you get accepted, remember it is a CONTRACT to attend there and Willingly Forfeit all other schools that you got accepted, it just doesn’t look good on you basically

Wait back to my point  , yeah I didn’t hear anything from them yet…

in conclusion, i would not like to see any uci admission changes for me until may 2nd. i’m not trying to create a bandwagon of bad hopes since we all are anxious, but read last year’s thread and see for yourself. you’d be better off seeing a change of admission status after may 2nd

@irvine2014 yeah but not too many people seem to be admitted yet.

I just find it hard to believe everyone from this point on will be rejected/waitlisted. I haven’t even seen any Phil majors get accepted. Or maybe there are just none on this forum -_-

@icedexpresso- that was what i was thinking too, especially with thousands of applicants that have applied. but, i would say there are less than 10% that are on these boards =[

if we look through all these threads, you would only see about 500 or so different usernames. and probably only 200-300 different usernames in this uci forum…and there are how many transfer applicants each year?

^^ rough numbers i just threw out, because i don’t think there are that many usernames

also, how many acceptance/rejectance posts (present or past years) can you count after admissions are finished?

@irvine2014 i agree it’s a very small sample on these forums but it’s so odd to see not too many acceptances here since march unless we’ve all been very unlucky so far…

edit:: most of those acceptances were tag-ers and they can’t just accept only tag-ers

@icedespresso I don’t think they have let out many decisions yet either. I’m hoping we all get good new shortly. what a horrible admissions experience this far

It seems to me that they’ve been sending out their decisions based by majors. I haven’t heard of any public health majors acceptances/rejections/waitlists, so don’t lose hope guys. I’m sure there’s another acceptance batch coming. keep your heads up!
