Official UCR Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

@sophisticated1 Welcome to UCR! Hope to meet ya too!

@moniiique Orientation is on the 28th for me. I wanted to go on an earlier day but Im still working and since my last day is the 27th of August, the 28th was the perfect day for me to go. Nonetheless, We still have move in day and about a week or so before school starts so hopefully we can link together then.

@sophisticated1 I know how it is with work… its not even July and I already had to request off my days for August! My last day of working is September 29/30th, I haven’t decided yet but we still have all year too!

I’m going to be working as well, but I request to leave in August and travel a bit in mid-late August and most of September. Don’t want to go there, burnt out. Just fresh and excited :).

Welcome @sophisticated1!!! I’m glen mor M building too.
How is everyone’s summer going? :)

I finally got a place, it’s in Oban…375/m… I have no idea how you guys are gonna be able to afford Glen Mor

Good for you man! I don’t know about the rest but I’m staying there because I’m getting financial aid to either stay at glen mor or the dorms. It was hard to pick from there lol

@JIMMYofW‌ yay! That’s pretty good for a campus apartment! I’m in glen mor because they would reduce my financial aid if I didn’t stay there or the residence halls… There was no question for me haha

@moniiique, so was mine, I just read it right now… oh well, I guess they’ll adjust it. I have a question, does scotlink work for you? It says my account is disabled

Also, when are we getting the grant money? and will the bill for housing be taken out of it automatically or is there a place where we go pay?

nvm to the question about the award disbursal… i found the page

@JIMMYofW‌ the job website right? Yes mine works I uploaded my resume already && browsed some jobs in the area.

@moniiique thanks…it says my account it suspended, i guess i gotta call them

Just like with @jpare003 I had no choice but to choose either Glen Mor or be stuck in the residence halls because of financial aid. I definitely didnt want to get stuck with 30 girls to a bathroom. Oh, gosh no! lol Plus finanical aid helps me cover the cost. @jimmyofw Scotlink is the database for finding jobs on campus right? I tried to use that database and I didnt have access either. Let me know how that works for you or how you gained access if you have. Where did you find info on how the money would be disbursed ? I just know that your room and board automatically comes out of your Aid. But I would stil like to visit the website you found your info on.

Anyone transferring into a CNAS major? Also, has anyone gotten notified about academic counseling yet?

Do anyone know when we can sign up for classes? or notified about academic counseling?

@zanguilf I’m part of CNAS as well, but I haven’t receive any message from them.

@sophisticated1 I called about scotlink, and they said that it will be ready for me at the end of september when all my information has been processed, and that this is because i am a transfer. here is the page on award disbursal http://financialaid.ucr.edu/receiveaid/awarddisbursal.html

@bjt223 i’m in chass, but i think it will be during orientation for all of us

@bjt223‌ oh nice! what’s your major?? I read that we’re supposed to be emailed about academic counseling during the months of july and august but i haven’t received anything yet. @JIMMYofW‌ i also believe signing up for classes is during orientation but the weird thing is for CNAS it says orientation is optional for us so i think we can sign up for classes after our academic orientation at some point?? also i read the award disbursal page and saw we have to do promissory note and pre loan counseling to get our loans, are they going to tell us what we need to do for sure for our loans before hand or do you think we just have do it on our own before hand?

@zanguilf I don’t think the pre loan stuff will be in person, most likely, we will just have to watch a bunch of videos on the studentloans.gov site so we just have to do it on our own… that’s just my guess, it would probably be best to call them
