Official UCR Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

@firstgenstudent‌ 17?? Sounds like a bit much. Are you transferring from a quarter system or uc?

Reminder that fees and tuition are due by sept. 15
I still don’t understand why our I.D. is worth 25 bucks haha

I kind of wishes that i can retake my ID picture. Didn’t like it :(

@‌firstgenstudent that’s awesome ! I would have liked to take 16 but I need to get a job to pay my car and I really need to adjust to the quarter system.

@drew26 that’s what I said! They already got 14K they couldn’t throw in one ID for free?! I assume they replace like 1/4 of every years IDs.

Has anyone gotten anything about roomates yet ?

Is anyone bringing a car like me? LOL and I agree, I heard other schools charge like ony 5 bucks for IDs and about roomates I haven’t received anything but you gotta call

@moniiique I haven’t received any message from roommates either.

@drew26 taking my car ! I wouldn’t survive without it haha.

@moniiique‌ @Zanguilf‌ @bjt223‌ im transferring from a community college which is semester to ucr so yeah. 17 seems like a lot but the average full time student takes anywhere between 15-18 and to be honest 12 is the bare minimum to be considered full time. If your going to take 12 or 12+ its the same price. Work your ass off nothing is impossible. I had a friend take 21 units 3 quarters in a row for computer engineering or something and his overall gpa is 3.9. If im going to pay for my school might as well give it my all. Its all about time management.

Well week 0 is only 3 weeks away. What are you guys plan coming up?

Same haha @moniiique‌ and im confused on week zero, when does it start because people are telling me different things. And since move in day is Sept. 19 what are you guys planning to do, just stay there till school starts or stay a little and go home and come back?

@firstgenstudent that’s great! I totally agree with the whole more units same money thing. Personally, I rather take it slow and steady, I’ll still graduate in under two years granted all my classes are open. (:

@drew26 to my knowledge sept. 19 is move-in day. The week of sept. 22 is an extra week of settling in and meeting people. The week of the 29th is welcome week and on Oct. 2 it’s the first official day of classes. I’m moving in on the 19th and staying home the next week and officially moving myself in on the 28th. I didn’t want to waste a week not working in riverside, I figure welcome week is sufficent time to hang out.

Oh ok cool, well do you have a meal plan with your housing? idk if my meal plan starts when school starts, because in that case I gotta know if I gotta spend money the week prior to school starting for food @moniiique‌

@drew26 Same boat with you. I believe Sept 19 is the check in day while Sept 28th is week 0 where everyone meet everyone. Oct 2 is the start of the first day of class. I might do the same as @moniiique. Spent a little more time with my family because i know i am going to be homesick without them. :(

@drew26 it should start the day you move in, not too sure though. I would totally email housing if your unsure.

Does anyone know what time we are supposed to show up for the move in day, and what we are supposed to bring?

Do I actually take everything I’m going to be moving in with?

It states it in an email you received on RMAIL, mine is 2:30 idk if everyone’s is the same @JIMMYofW‌ and for the second question, personally, im taking a few things because im not going to stay there for the 2 weeks till school starts. You can do that another say, you just need to show up that day to check in and do that check for your apt.

@drew26 mines at 1030 AM so i think everyone has different check in times!

Wow, ok, well I wonder if it’s possible to show up earlier than the check in time assigned @charlee619‌

My check in is also at 1030. I think it’s set up in waves so the entire glen mor community isn’t there at once. I’m sure stuff is set up by time slots.

My check in is at 8:30 am. So early!
