Hey, guys! I was thinking we should have a little College Confidential meet up at UCSD's transfer admit day. We could grab lunch and then tour the Village together before our respective presentations (mine is the Jacobs presentation).

Lol, yeah… except I’d rather not have my parents with me. What am I, 12?

I’m bringing a friend instead.

Considering that I’m paying for my schooling myself - their input is irrelevant. They’re fine with whatever, though they’re kinda mad that I didn’t SIR to Cal.

im down! i think i will pick up my stuff in the morning, but a friend of mine (current phd student) will give me his own tour of ucsd. i will be going to the jacob presentation as well. going with friends is fun!

@Integraballer I’m sorry to tell you this but your parents will continue to embarrass you well into your 50’s, at which age you will embarrass yourself so much that embarrassment from your parents will become irrelevant

I’m bring my dad just cuz I love UCSD and I want him to see it I’m paying for it and he has no input but yeah… I just want him to see the school I wont shut up about. haha so no you wont be the only one with parents. And yeah I thought I read somewhere that families were invited so im sure there will be plenty more.

UCSD couldn’t have scheduled a worse day to have Transfer Admit Day. It’s the weekend before finals, so no studying on Saturday! And Mothers day is the day after! My family’s gonna wanna do something.
Damn!
There goes my gpa :(

Depends which building you are in. I’ve been in the village west and the rooms are small.beds, closets, and desks are side by side, BUT they have the best ocean view.

Village east double rooms are huge!! The beds can be moved so that roommates can sleep on opposite corners of the room. The only down side is that village east rooms have a giant random pillar in the center of the room. The views are still nice though.

Btw, vice versa for single rooms. However, that’s irrelevant to us incoming transfers.

ic, seeing how all transfers are dormed in the village, do we get to decide whether we want to go towards village west or east? hmmm which one did u like better? west or east? having a great ocean view beats a little more space

Yes I believe that we do get to choose either east or west. However I think most returning transfer students have already claimed village east because the buildings are practically brand new. Includes indoor bike rack, and overall nicer apartment layouts (like the kitchen and dining room and living room are arranged better)

There are also some rooms in village easy that do face the ocean.
And let me tell you, the ocean view is amazing. Ocean is literally a 10 minute walk from the village. And while you’re studying, you’re also watching parasailers, surfers, and even dolphins!

All in all, whatever place you choose in the village. You won’t be disappointed. Unless you don’t get a spot. Personally, I’d love to stay in village east. It’s a year old, and since there are no more single rooms, I prefer a more spacious double room.
Also, it’s closer to the strand(the soap bar, the bistro, and the market)
