[li] Why you think you were accepted/denied: I’m thinking the solid GPA and Essay saved me.[/li][/ul]

Where else were you accepted/denied?
Accepted at UCF and USF, waiting for FSU still since I applied after the early decision.

No, actually, it’s the LAW.
They cannot legally accept more than 3% of OOS students. UF accepts only 1%, as they should.
I don’t think it’s any different for other state schools.

You start college during the Summer B session instead of the Fall. Therefore you will have a small window of time between high school graduation and starting at UF in June. It is crucial to apply ASAP for Summer and Fall/Spring Housing and to file FAFSA both for 2011 and 2012. During Summer B federal funding uses the prior year FAFSA with 2010 tax return information. Any other questions PM me.

Other states have different caps but the purpose of state institutions is primarily to serve their own students. It sucks I know but every state has them because government funding can only be extended to so many OOS students who dont even pay the taxes.

Danielle I got rejected with a 3.9 UF GPA, 13 AP classes mixed w hon, 2000 SAT (1300 M + R), around 95 community service hours, good ECs including a sport for three years, officer position in one club, plus a big research paper published in a big science journal, nylf, etc.

Im guessing it was because I messed up my junior year because I had transferred and during one semester I had 20 absences because I was sick and even had to miss the final exams, which ruined my ranking . If I can get that nearly completely fixed, and have good senior year grades with a good courseload, and get around 50 more community service hours, could they maybe consider an appeal? I feel pretty discouraged because I never wanted to go to any college except UF. And I always had a connection with UF during my sister’s time there, and we used to always go to Gainesville etc + we have our own condo there.

You can appeal but unless there is something major they overlooked in your file or something dramatic that was not considered, an appeal has almost no hope. I believe someone posted that there were about 300 appeals last year and about 10-15 were granted. It is the longest of long shots. Call admissions on Monday and find out about the process. However, I think you need to come to terms with the decision and set your sights on another school. Remember with 33,000 applications and 11,000 admissions they are looking for small deviations that set applicants apart. Good luck

Where else were you accepted/denied?
Accepted at UCF (offered Provost Scholarship- 24k + guaranteed honors admission), USF (offered Presidential + honors = 18k+ but less than UCF), FIU that’s all I applied… Florida public instate.

Message me if you wanna talk bout UCF vs. UF!

actually there were many things overlooked i believe. My junior year grades can literally completely change because some are still(hard to believe) incomplete, and the teachers are still fixing them(they are allowing it). Also there were very substantial circumstances because I attended 4 different high schools etc, not for anything bad, but the effect of transferring had a bad impact on my academics.

Is there any other way to appeal besides online? I would really like to talk to them in person.

Its heartbreaking and both of my sisters were accepted with over 2300 sat etc and recommended honors and I can’t get in to the only college i want to go to.

I believe the appeal is by submitting a paper application with supporting documents. I believe it has to be sent in by an early-mid March deadline. I do not believe there is an on-line appeal application. You ought to try as UF is so important to you. However, be realistic and make sure you have other options. Call UF Admissions on Monday, and talk to the designated admissions rep and find out what the appeal process requirements and deadline is. Good luck.
