Why would you do this? If you get admitted you're just bragging, if you get denied you're just prolonging your misery. Get over it and go to your second choice if that's the case. Personally, I hope I get in, but if I don't, I'll be happy with my second choice. I say boycott this ridiculousness.

It's not just bragging. Posting your stats is a tradition on CC and serves to give some idea of the direction of admissions for those that will be in the same position next year. If you have such a problem posting your info, don't. However, don't belittle or criticize the act. I'd say your crying about the issue is more ridiculous

^ Vincanity is right - Please post your stats it is what is done every year on CC. It's just tradition.

Also to those who get dinged by UF, I suggest you all pick FSU over UCF (this is coming from a UF alumni).

UCF is a regional school, has a smaller endowment, worse athletics, a weaker Peer Assessment Score, less prestigious graduate programs, and does not offer the traditional college experience.

I am sick of these kids picking the commuter university simply because it has nicer dorms.

Tradition! You're right, that's a great reason to keep doing things. Other traditions worth keeping forever: using fossil fuels, believing the earth is flat, human sacrifice, segregation, no women allowed in the workplace, apartheid, feudalism.

I don't think this is done because it's tradition, but because it is helpful for others.

People who are juniors right now and are looking to get into UF will probably look around this site. Seeing the stats of the people who got accepted will give them an idea of what the admission's committee is looking at.

If someone gets accepted with a 1100 on their SAT, they would probably not be bragging about getting in. They would be surprised and it would give someone else hope that they might be able to get in as well.

No one is forcing you to give your stats. The "tradition" doesn't need to be broken just because you wouldn't want to give your stats if you get in or don't get in.

^ Exactly. Posting your stats in an acceptance thread is not tradition just for people to brag, it's pretty helpful and interesting. If you're a junior looking at student's accepted stats, then you know what to shoot for next year. But even if you're not a student, it's fun to read the stats just to look at the breakdown and everything. Gatortrend, it's both interesting and helpful to a lot of people, unlike fossil fuels, segregation, etc. This is not a bragging thread.... if you want to see bragging, go to the "My Chances" section. Tons of people there post stuff like "Help! I don't know what to do! I only scored a 2300 on the SAT and my GPA slipped from a 4.9 to a 4.8 =(, can I still get into college?"

Maybe juniors in high school should try talking to the admissions office rather than listening to gibberish spouted by seniors who have no idea how the system works.

Maybe they should, but who are you to say what people should do? Everyone, seriously, grow up and get a life. If you disagree with what this thread is for, pretend it doesn't exist. It doesn't affect you at all, negatively or positively. If you agree with it, then post your stats and acceptance or denial.

Momma told me not to show my private things to strangers. Kinda like not posting pictures on facebook or myspace from the high school parties I did not attend, that did not have alcohol at them. That's kinda how I feel about posting my personal stats and my personal admission decision to strangers on this site. All I am saying is, what purpose does it serve for me to tell you my stats and my decision? Don't try to tell me the greater good will be served.

Um... the greater good is being served. All that high school juniors will get from the admissions office is the average SAT/GPA. Not much more. On here, however, juniors can look at other factors like EC's, course strength, grade trend, and other special circumstances. If you don't like posting your personal stats online, that's fine. I think we all understand that. But coming here and denouncing this thread as a bragging podium is a little ridiculous.

you guys are mature... if you want to post your stats and decision then do it, and if you don't then don't. any other pointless arguments please keep to yourself.

This is an anonomous site unless you choose otherwise. High school students are looking at this site and trying to get info on their college futures. We, parents and students, share info and try to help each other out. By posting stats, hope is given to students who think that they don't have a shot. You will get to see, for example, how having a very high gpa and a not that great SAT might get you in or someone with great leadership positions who lacked in other areas and was able to get in. My daughter has selected her classes by looking at schedules of students who got in to UF in hopes of being able to do the same. It is VERY motivating and not just a tradition!
