We had the same problem, can’t view any decision. Don’t know why.

Pepper78, Are you a high school/AA applicant?

@collegemn

You were qualified enough for them to give you a chance, many were flat our rejected so be glad they are giving you a chance to prove yourself during Summer B. Plus since you will be starting earlier you’ll get ahead on your classes and adjusting to campus life, nothing bad about that.

Make sure that you don’t have the GatorLink log in page saved as a bookmark. I had problems logging in until I realized that this was the issue. A screen would come up that said, “Shibboleth Error.” This might not be your problem, but I thought I would say something since it happened to me at first and it was very frustrating. lol

State/Country:USA
School Type:Public
Ethnicity:White
Gender:Male
Income Bracket: Upper middle class
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.):Father went to UF

Reflection

Strengths: SAT’s? did a great job on essay. Huge upward trend in grades and course load
Weaknesses: Underclassmen grades were weak
Why you think you were accepted/denied: good SAT’s, Good GPA, Good extracurriculars

General Comments: Love UF and the Gators. Go Gators! Just waiting from other schools before I make a decision.

Where else were you accepted/denied? Accepted: Tulane, Northeastern, Fordham, UVM. Waiting to hear back from: Carleton College, Oberlin College, Rollins, and Gettysburg college.

My daughter was REJECTED but is moving on! Her stats were 3.9 UFWGPA, 28 ACT, 6 AP, 4 dual enrollment, tons of honors/pre-ap, sports all 4 years, tons of clubs with leadership, 300 hours documented community service and a rigorous senior schedule.

She was devastated at first but feels more convinced that UF’s admission is truly random after hearing about kids who got in with lower stats and one friend who didn’t get in who went to the outstanding scholars weekend this past summer (absoutely shocking!).

We are going to be in Gainesville the week after next for a tournament and plan to make an appt to visit admissions and get a better idea of what she could have done (for my other daughter’s sake) and what she can do to improve her chances of coming in as a transfer. She was accepted into FSU honors but really wants UF as they have a College of Pharmacy. We are exploring cc so she can get her AA in a year and transfer in fall 2013.

I have no idea what she could have done differently knowing of people with lesser stats getting in. Therefore, my advice would be to not count on UF but always have alternative plans. NOTHING is for certain with UF admissions no matter what anyone on here says. Her friend who went to the outstanding scholars program can certainly attest to that.

As a side note, if you don’t know what the outstanding scholars program at UF is: every Florida HS designates their top students and sends the names to UF. UF chooses the best 1000 and invites them to a free weekend at UF (over the summer before their junior year) to experience “life as a UF student” in the dorms, events, UF paraphernalia…basically a recruiting event. You would think these kids would be shoe-ins, and most probably are, but it’s not a 100% guarantee.

Still unable to see results. I went to “Check your status” and then I clicked “Continue” and nothing has changed from the original received materials. Is this where you found your decisions?

@Slinger123 I think it’ll take a little longer than one school year at a CC to get her AA.
You need to complete at least 60 hours and have your AA by the time of possible acceptance.

Sent from my iPod touch using CC

accepted!
4.2 weighted
3.5 unweighted
28 act
1320 CR + M sat
veritable ton of EC’s

lol I didn’t expect to get in so now what…

Pick one:
Decision: Accepted!!!

Objective:

SAT I (breakdown): N/A
ACT: Reading - 28, Math - 23, English - 34, Science - 21, Writing - 31; Composite - 27 (also took ACT one other time with somewhat similar scores)
SAT II: N/A
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.2
Weighted GPA: 4.5
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 16/361 (top 5%)
AP (place score in parenthesis): One AP class; didn’t take AP test (long story)
IB (place score in parenthesis): N/A
Senior Year Course Load: Attended Edison State College for senior year, as I have been a Dual Enrollment student since I was a freshman in high school and I completed all of my high school coursework early. So far this year, I have taken these classes at the college: Adolescent Psychology, British Literature I, American Literature I, Introduction to Teaching (all last semester), Introduction to Sociology, Beginning Spanish, American Literature II, and Creative Writing I (all this semester). I will be graduating in May with both my high school diploma and Associate of Arts degree. :)

Subjective:

Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): National Honor Society (grades 10, 11, 12), volunteering (grade 11), Yearbook (grades 11 and 12; Editor-in-Chief for 12th grade).
Job/Work Experience: Part-time job for all four years of high school at a law firm.
Volunteer/Community service: 125+ hours of community service at public schools in my area.
Summer Activities: took classes at Edison State College every summer and worked at the law firm the rest of the time.
Essay: spoke of my personal challenges in my life and the road I took that led me to academic success.

Other

Intended Major: English
State/Country: Florida/USA
School Type: Public High School
Ethnicity: Caucasian (German, Irish, Scottish, Native American Indian)
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: Approx. $65,000/year.
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): First generation college student

Reflection

Strengths: Dual Enrollment coursework (over 24 classes), higher level coursework throughout my entire high school career, a few extracurriculars that I have been VERY involved in, my essay (writing is my forte), perhaps my ACT score, though it wasn’t brilliant, my weighted GPA and college GPA (3.0).
Weaknesses: Extracurriculars were probably a bit weak, my unweighted GPA clearly leaves a lot to be desired, ACT score could have been a bit better.
Why you think you were accepted/denied: I can’t give a concrete answer for this. I’m honestly not sure why I was accepted. I know so many people who are clearly more intelligent than myself and they were rejected and are devastated. I know it would have been the end of my world if I was rejected, and I am just appreciative of the opportunity UF is giving me. I am going to continue to work as hard as I always have.

General Comments:

Where else were you accepted/denied?
I applied to three schools: University of South Florida (accepted), University of Central Florida (accepted), and University of Florida (ACCEPTED!!!). :)

papertiger: It may be difficult to get her AA in one year, but not impossible. A lot will depend on how she scores on her AP exams this year but she’ll definitely have 15 hours of college credit at the end of this semester. We are fully expecting a full summer, fall and spring. She has a good friend who did it that way and started UF as a transfer in that timeframe. He made sure he had all of his pre-reqs for his major, fulfilled the other requirements for AA and was accepted to UF with a 3.6 GPA.

@Slinger123,

What was his major? I plan on attending a CC for the summer of 2012 (Right after I graduate from HS) to take 3 classes. I should be finishing my AA that summer (@ 41 credits so far), and hopefully be transferring into UF for the Fall of 2012. I will most likely be majoring in accounting.

As for your daughter, will she have 15 credits from AP classes? or from Dual Enrollment? Also, she should be able to finish her AA in a year if she has about 25-30 credits by her graduation date (depending on the credit cap per semester that the CC has).
