*Official UNC Fall 2010 Transfer Thread*

I expect everyone to post their decisions in the Fall 2009 Transfer Decision thread when the official one is made!

Even if you got rejected, like I probably will! Haha. :(

If you don’t get in, where is everyone thinking as their backup? Personally I’m staying with ECU

i am staying with u of minnesota…

UCLA and if that fails UCSD(accepted)

If I don’t get in, then it’s Washington College, which I applied to as a safety. Anything to get out of NYU, ha. I can barely handle another few weeks here.

I’m thinking about attending Elon…I’ve already been accepted there and really don’t want to stay another year at my current university

hey jesseG, look what i found on unc’s website.

As mandated by the University of North Carolina General Administration, 82 percent of each first-year class must comprise residents of North Carolina. Therefore, the number of available admission spots for out-of-state students is significantly smaller. Additionally, we receive more applications from students outside of the state. For these reasons, residency is a factor in our admission decisions for first-year students. It is not a factor for in our decision for transfer admission. For transfer admission, residency status affects only the cost of tuition.

reading your previous posts you’re probably still not convinced so here’s your “proof”

[Ask Admissions](http://www.admissions.unc.edu/ask_carolina.html?id=406)

it took me about a minute to find this; far less time than it took for you to assert your ignorance.

so, where ever you guys are from, GOOD LUCK

oops, when you click on that link type in ‘residency’ and it’s the first thing that comes up. see, even i make mistakes

Ignorance is you’re phrasing of your proof, showing you can not provide information without trying to demean. I think you have a lot of maturing to do before you graduate.

Yeah, the percentage is for first year admits only. Not us older and wiser (laughing starts now) transfers. The reason for the proving you are instate as a transfer is TUITION PURPOSES ONLY. So they know who the OOSers are to bend them over the desk. :stuck_out_tongue: So you can all stop arguing about it now. :P

As for me, I’m already convinced I’m rejected and have been since like last week. There’s just too many junior transfers who outshine me. = / I don’t think my story (I’m an autistic single mom) or my URM (black) will save me from my 3.46 college GPA. Although, my last semester’s GPA was 3.75, and my first year of college was 01-02 (I’m old, alright? :P), my second 09-10…I’m hoping that they see I was adjusting to the 4 year uni environment after 7 year hiatus. >_< Probably not. :frowning:

I was tempted to apply to U of AZ as my safety because they have a cognitive science program (my area of interest, something my school doesn’t have) and I have friends there, but I’ll probably stay at UNM, even though I’m academically miserable here. That whole “evil you know” thing.

Oh, I’m a dual major in Psychology and Computer Science. A combo that makes sense, but also seems to be rather uncommon and I get weird looks and comments when I tell people that.

Also JesseG, ignorance is a word that means you don’t know. Which in this case was true, you didn’t know and were asserting incorrect info. I’m not sure why you took it as a negative, but that wasn’t the poster’s intention. Ignorance IS NOT a negative comment. Stupid, moron, etc. are.

We’re all pretty irritable because of decisions, so let’s calm down.

Ignorance is also lacking of knowledge…which ties to my communication piece into response to uncsoph. And yes, we are :)

Barking, it matters what you’ve been taking too don’t forget that. I think the URM/mom/nontrad thing will provide a compelling argument even if your raw academics aren’t super competitive. CC averages are almost guarenteed higher than actual averages - we’re super nerds here! Haha

My backup is UGA - I’d be deliriously happy to attend there too. Just leaving Stony Brook in itself would be a huge thing, but attending any funner school would be grand. My happiness requires it.

Definitely. They got it done by April 9th last year. ):
I wonder how many applicants they have this year.

Lacking knowledge is the same as not knowing…anyways chill out. :stuck_out_tongue: I’m not gonna argue vocab because…there’s beer to drink and PS3 to play!

Also, I heard this song on Pandora radio a few weeks ago and the past couple of weeks I’ve been humming this song over and over and listening to it on repeat. This song is kinda, hm, goofy and silly and only remotely relevant. :stuck_out_tongue: Kind of a weird thing for me to listen to since I usually listen to Oasis (loudly) in my car, but hey, I like all kinds of music and figured I’d share: [YouTube - Matt Wertz - Carolina](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbmlwFdTPPc)

Or we can go back to arguing vocab. :P

xMastemah, they received about the same amount of apps as last year, Julie mentioned it in a comment on the blog.

Oh, didn’t see that. Thanks. :D

I guess they just haven’t been as productive or started later.

Either way, IS IT FRIDAY YET? I noticed this thread seems to be gaining attention as the deadline draws closer.

Haha, I wish it was Friday. 4 is my lucky number, and this is the 4th month…and the 16th is 4x4…here’s hoping I get lucky! (Not that kind of lucky :P)

Hey, 8 is mine. 16/2 is 8. But that’s just manipulating numbers to hear what we want. Haha.

I need to call admissions and get something straightened out. Apparently dual-enrollment credits don’t count towards class standing, so I’m actually a sophomore in terms of transferring. Even though if I actually got admitted, I’d be a junior by real credit hours…

I have a feeling that the decisions will come out on 15th. it is usually a T/Th.
