Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Essays/Recs
[] Weaknesses: Grades/ECs, maybe.
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Could be a lot of reasons. Even if I was qualified, it’s not like every qualified people fit the particular class they constructed. I’m guessing it’s not about me. If it is, then grades. Definitely. Although I did show an upward trend. I don’t know how I didn’t get 4.0 in my first two years, but I should have. Instead, I had 3.5s, shooting up to 3.7-3.8 between the second semester of junior year and the first semester of senior year.
[] What would you have done differently?: Done ECs I didn’t like in order to pad my resume. I didn’t care for doing that, but it has its uses. Oh. And to get 4.0s in Fresh/Soph year. Gotten my ADHD re-diagnosed before entering high school so I could get either adderall or accommodation (I was diagnosed in 2nd grade), both of which my parents are strictly against, esp the drugs, which is just basically speed. I couldn’t even TELL uchicago due to not receiving accommodation for ADHD, so they didn’t know about it. I didn’t want to seem desperate, but it takes about twice the amount of effort as normal kids to get the grades I did.[/ul]

Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations, etc:

Well, what’s there to do now but wait for RD. I bet us “Ds” are actually rejected, only they wanted to protect their yield or something, because it’s fantastically unlikely that nobody was rejected so far. I’ll do my bit and hope for the best. If not, I still have plenty of schools I need to write supplements for, and hopefully one of them would take me. Congrats to those who got in.

[li] Strengths: recommendations, CommonApp essay, humor
[/li]

[li] Weaknesses: SAT scores, UChicago essay topic
[/li]

[li] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I think there were way too many of us to fit in the first round of acceptances for the class of 2015, so they are probably waiting to see how we will fit into the class that forms with the regular decision cycle.
[/li]

[li] What would you have done differently?: I probably would have worked harder and picked an essay topic they offered, rather than writing my own. But I don’t know if that was even the reason I was deferred.
[/li]

[/ul]Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations, etc:
At least it wasn’t a denial. Still, now I have to wait until April to hear from FOUR universities, and that will give me an intense April. Ah well. Also, reading through this list so far, I am astounded at the people who were deferred along with me. You guys won’t have any problem finding a school, whether it be Chicago or basically any other.

[li] Common App Main: About my changes in perception due to a teacher’s influence; seeing things from a different perspective. Evolution from the hesitant first-year delegate to someone who helps first-year delegates with their own hesitance. Eh, maybe a 7/8 due to limited word count.

It is because of this causality that pervades every aspect of the University of Chicago that the University is my passion, my dream, and where I believe that I am meant to be.” (I liked it. I say 8/10)
