Official University of Chicago Transfer Fall 2009

I think we have to. I am going to put my money on mid-this-week.

I’m putting my money on Friday.

I am betting on Wednesday at 5:00

why would saying ‘soon’ mean that its today or tomorrow??

I assumed that it meant today… because last week, her response was “a couple of weeks!”… which essentially limited it to early May. My god I am so anxious.

i feel like they could just be saying thatt…

because otherwise, the person would’ve said “this week” or “next week.”

What’s the standard requirements to transfer to UC as sophomore?
Do the scores of SAT,Toefl (I am an International student) matter a lot ? P.S I didn’t get competitive scores in both SAT and Toefl among the transfers.
I am gonna major in business school or mathematics in LSA,so if I study and work hard and get a pretty well GPA in first year,is it possible for me to get into UC as a sophomore?

U Chicago,my dream…

I have a feeling that it’ll be Friday of this week. Although it’d be REALLY nice if it’s Wednesday, since I’ll be done with finals on that day, yay!

Anybody going to call this morning?

If you decide to call again, you have my full support :)

hahah that crystal girl who answers the phone never sounds too happy…

I just called and the woman in the office told me middle to late May. And I told her that the emails that I received all said early May; her reply was that no date has been set for the release of admissions decisions, so she does not know.

This is so confusing!!

Rhode: middle to late May? She must be kidding!

Youch, exactly. she must really not know what she is talking about!!

This morning, she said “early to mid May” What the heck? You’d th8nk they’d have a standard answer ready for this question.

Guys, give the poor people a break!

You are obviously obsessing over this far too much. They said “soon,” a very vague term. I really don’t think you calling them every day asking them is going to help anything.

hey skbike2, we are not all calling the admissions office everyday, in fact this is the first time that I have called.
Secondly, I think that its safe to say that we are not angry or upset with the secretary in the admissions department, rather we are annoyed that no one can give us a clear answer. We are hearing: soon, late-May, early-May, mid-May, it almost seems like no one in that office has any idea when decisions will be released. Needless to say, as an applicant who is eagerly awaiting a decision, this uncertainty is increasingly frustrating. For me personally, I am really just annoyed by the fact that the admissions department is being so unnecessarily secretive about admissions decisions. It almost feels like they are treating transfers a little differently than they treat first-years, because I remember my senior year of high school, any university that I called would give me an approximate date for admissions. the date was not always correct, but they were not this secretive about it.
I am not angry with your comment, in fact, I believe it has merit, but please understand, it is not my intent to bombard the admissions department with phone calls, I just need to know what my options are for university next fall so that I may plan accordingly.

Right – the most inconveniencing issue is not knowing by what point we can start committing to thinks for next year… I can’t even say “I’ll be able to get back to you on X day.” I just have to say “ummm early to mid to late May perhaps.”

Yeah, I’m trying to put off making a deposit on the apartment I have lined up in Berkeley for next year, and this vagueness definitely isn’t making it any easier…

I really hope that lady didn’t know what she was talking about. I feel like if they already posted ‘early May’ in numerous locations on the admissions website, they can’t just go back and change it to mid-to-late May. Maybe she’s try to get people to stop calling? OR maybe they’re actually supposed to be posted this evening, and she’s messing with all of us :P
