It probably won’t come today and probably not tomorrow. I think they’re being vague because last year they were specific and wrong, and they don’t want people in arms again. Their official deadline is the 15th, so no one should be worried until then and everyone should use that as their reference date for others…

PersonGuy34, where does it say that their official deadline is 5/15.

I’m not saying that it’s not, I’m just curious to where you got this information from.

My fear is that if decisions come out at the end of may, then I won’t have a chance to visit if I am accepted (we must reply by June 1st with our decision) or have a significant amount of time to weight my options. Considering that transferring is pretty big deal, I need some time to really decided what I’m going to do based on facts, aid, etc, rather than just based on an emotional attachment that I have to any one school.

thats why i asked: “why do you guys think that it would be today or tomorrow”

you guys are getting your hopes up too much guys, you know that these admissions office have made a job of f*kin with peoples heads…

hey dirty.chicago

We are assuming that it would be sometime this week, because the week of May 4 is considered early May. So that’s why so many of us are assuming that it would be around this time (as to a specific date, we are just guessing )
The problem is that we are not really sure if the date is in fact early-May, because we are getting some conflicting information form the secretary in the admissions office.
I hope I explained that correctly…

And yes, they are really messing with our heads, but that’s all a part of college admissions :)

yeah, but even if they tell you a specific date, i wouldn’t believe them either way unless i got it in writing. which is why i think that its unnecessary for all of us to call every other day.

I don’t disagree with you on calling. I don’t think that calling everyday is a good idea at all. In the same vain, I don’t really think anyone is calling the office everyday… but I could be wrong.

The fifteenth is the date they give to the college board and to the common application for “college will notify student of admission decision by,” so it’s about the most official deadline they have.

ok, I can deal with somewhere around the 15th. That sounds good to me!! thanks PersonGuy34!

Andre’ did say in his April apology email: “It remains our intention to notify you with an official admission decision in early May.”

Actually, a lot of the College board info for Chicago is out of date.

does Chicago look at the standard essay for the common app.

Ok, I found what i was looking for. A couple of years ago there was an admissions officer who checked in with the UChicago section of CC. her name is Libby Pearson and below her name it said “College Rep” not “New member” as UChicagoAdmiss registration status states. Therefore I think its safe to conclude that this is a ridiculous person who is simply bored (not that most of you had not guess that by now). Granted, I could be wrong, but I don’t think so .

he’s obviously a loser if he’s faking but he’s kind of funny, too.

I have got to admit that as much as the ambiguity about admissions decisions, the fake housing email, and the fake Chicago rep annoy me! Somehow all of this chaos makes this process a bit more interesting (come to think of it my other decisions are rolling in and I am not really thinking about them, maybe it’s because they lack the dramatic events that surround my Chicago decision) :)

Could it be that Chicago is quite simply just THE coolest school?

haha. yes, yes that could very well be it !

Hey, did anyone get an email this morning from college-aid@uchicago.edu about financial aid?

Yea, I did.

Ok, I received the email, but it wasn’t sent to tell me how much aid I am getting, if I was getting aid at all, or whether or not I have been accepted, rather they just need to verify some information so they need me to fax something over. That’s all. So its not a big deal at all. We are all still waiting in the same boat :)
