Decision: Accepted

College and Program: LSA

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT I (by section): 720 CR, 710 M, 720 W
[] APs: 3 Euro History (Frosh), 4 World History (Soph)
[] GPA (UW, W): 3.8, 4.3
[] Rank: 6/328
[] Other stats: IB Diploma Candidate, National Honor Society, National Merit Commended (201 on PSAT?), National Forensic League (Debate) Academic All-American and Degree of Premier Distinction
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] ECs listed on app: Debate for four years (4x National Qualifier, Congress Captain), Student Council for three years (Frosh Sec, Soph Sec, Junior Pres), City Committee of Urban Forestry
[] Job/Work Experience:
[] Essays (subject and responses): Oh boy, don’t remember. Common App was about the influence of my grandfather and how he taught me how to help others (sounds trite, but hopefully how I reached the conclusions differently). “Why Michigan?” essay was about how I want to benefit from the diversity and cultural of Michigan so I don’t end up stuck in the same rut as my family stuck in the middle of Washington. Last essay was about how IB taught me the importance of learning outside of school and from other people’s experiences. Essays were written super casually. No five paragraph essay bullcrap, poked fun at myself, tried to not suck up to Michigan.
[] Teacher Recs: History Teacher, English Teacher, Debate Coach (only one I’ve seen: not fantastic, more of a list of accomplishments then anything)
[] Counselor Rec: Absolutely glowing. Saw it and it was fantastic. Talked about how I like to challenge my classmates and learn from them and how I learn best from a challenge.
[] Applied on (EA?): EA, October 20th
[] Hook (if any): Gay Idaho Republican? I dunno, I mentioned gay in passing in the Common App essay and Idaho typically has few students in OOS schools, but who knows what the hook is?
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: North Idaho
[] School Type: Only Public IB school in Idaho
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Male
[/ul]General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:
Got mine today, my best friend applied also and she doesn’t have nearly the stellar credentials as I do (but so much passion, energy, and hard-working; I know she’d do amazing) but she got the deferral. So that blows. UMich and UNC are my two top choices (I also am applying to Northwestern, WashU, UWash, UVa, too). So we’ll see what happened.

i’m done waiting.

Congrats to everyone!

I’m sick of waiting. I’m going to go ride my horse. You know, the one who I got multiple awards and recognitions with but couldn’t put on my application because they were in the horses’s name, not mine. Cause he totally placed at top shows, won year end awards, and registration of merit by sitting in his stall. rolls eyes I’m…bitter about that if you can’t tell.

time stamp 1:49pm, when i received it
