@vt2umich did you receive your decision yet? Also havent you started the housing and all in some other university ?

@aspirantasian Nope, and no I have not started dealing with housing. The only school I’ve heard back from was UIUC and I declined their offer of admission yesterday.

@vt2umich Did you call them ? When are you expecting your result ?

FYI I spoke with someone at the COE this morning and they said that admission decisions may not be made until June or even into July, especially if you are currently taking prerequisite classes. They will hold decisions for final transcripts from the current semester.

@SteveMSE I also had a tok with them and they said the same thing ! I have completed my prerequisites thus am expecting a reply asap !

I called today, and they told me pretty much the same, if you’re still working on prereqs, they’re gonna wait until you submit the final grade before making a decision. It can take up to june or july depending on when your semester finishes, because we might hear from them shortly after they receive the final transcript.
Be careful, they do not necessarily send out emails telling this, so I would say calling would be a good idea.
As far as the deposit deadline, she said not to worry, May 1st is for freshmen and for people who are already admitted. We’ll have two weeks after the decision to make the deposit.
Still, she did say, ‘you can hear any day from now through may’ (my semester ends this week).

Yea, my semester ends in two weeks, but I have deposit deadlines for other schools due on June 1st and they can’t guarantee that they will have a decision by then. It is kind of frustrating. Do I commit to another school and possibly lose $400 if I do get accepted to Michigan? Or do I gamble and hope and pray that Michigan accepts. I’d rather not do either. lol

Hey guys, I have a friend who’s applying to the COE this fall. He’s a freshman now, and an excellent student – 4.0 GPA for his first two semesters of college, is following the honors curriculum at his school, has a research position, and a teaching job, with various other extracurriculars. He was also accepted last year as a senior in high school, with a large sum of academic scholarship money. Perfect ACT score, top 10 of his class, the whole nine yards. The trouble is, he was accepted to LSA, and has since decided to change his major, hence the transfer, and hasn’t completed the prerequisites for his major of choice. To what extent, if at all, will this hurt his chances of admission as a sophomore?

Thanks a lot, and good luck to everyone.

@chocomocha, Yes not having prerequisites is a major count against you. It sounds like your friend isn’t junior status either which is another strike in the wrong direction; however, if he is as well versed as you claim he should be getting admission - mainly because he was given previous admission and has maintained excellence.

Just got accepted into college of architecture & urban planning this morning

Anyone who is applying to the LSA and still gets no result? The waiting is driving me crazy

H I was admitted for transfer. Does anyone know what life is like as a transfer at Umich?

As a transfer student, your life will not be that different from those of nontransfers. You might come without any close tie with a professor, which is not a huge deal. But one thing I wish I had had if I was here as a freshman is UROP program. This is a huge school, so you can make friends anytime!

Anyone else heard from COE? I am losing my patience here !

is there a facebook group for transfers yet?

@aspirantasian No, I haven’t either and am moving forward from this point as if I didn’t get accepted to Michigan. Have a lot of logistics to figure out between now and the start of the school year that needs to get taken care and I can’t wait any longer.

@aspirantasian When I called they said the first big batch of decisions is coming up this week. Since you have your prereqs done, I think that probably includes you.

Hang in there, guys

@vt2umich thanks for the info. there !

Well, I was going to post this a while ago, but seeing how I’ve gotten my problems worked out:
Accepted: April 25. LSA Transfer Student.

STATS:
Associate of General Studies (one science class away from associates of science)
GPA: 4.0 this semester, possible 3.9 after graduation
In-state student

EC: N/A

High School Stats:
GPA: 2.175
ACT: 16

I don’t know if anyone is still waiting but good luck, although I suspect there are still people waiting.

Just submitted my grades from this past semester. Now I’m at 58 total credits with a GPA of 4.000

Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted, and good luck to this in the same situation as me!
