[/ul]General Comments: To those of you who are reading this for next year, don’t freak out about your scores or essays too much. Just do the best that you can on your tests, and write for you and not Penn. I’m not an expert, but I’m sure that they really enjoyed reading about who I really am behind the grades and the EC’s. Sell yourself, not just your transcript, to the school.

oops, forgot a few things. ECs: I played the flute and piccolo for four years, went on trips with my school to perform and played in the Pep Band all four years. I also got a few awards: AP Scholar with Distinction, Maryland Scholar, and a few others, but none of them were the reason that I got in.

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): A ridiculous amount, as I assume most Penn kids have!! I won’t list them all, but they span sports, music, and clubs.
[] Job/Work Experience: Office Manager for a country club
[] Volunteer/Community service: Habitat for Humanity, among others
[] Essays: My common app essay was decent (I wrote it on [failing at] surfing), but looking back, I think my Penn-specific essay was rubbish.
[] Teacher Recommendation: Two that were fabulous!! (One was a former teacher/coach, current principal, and the other my English teacher)
[] Counselor Rec: No idea, though I assume I had one

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: I’m involved in everything under the sun, from a podunk little farming town in the middle of nowhere
[] Weaknesses: Everything else!
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Several other schools (which all offered me more money)

[/ul]General Comments: I was terrified that I wouldn’t get in, thought I might scrape by. And looking at these posts, looks like I am under-qualified!! But somehow those gracious Penn Admissions guys let me in. I just want to be at Penn already!! Amazing school- it’s everything I wanted. Can’t wait to meet all my classmates and traverse Philly
