aww that sucks dahlia..
but it's prob because of your sat scores.. and the fact that you're international.. =/

I really regret not applying to Penn ED now. Huntsman is like, the perfect match for me (EC wise, interests wise). The only reason I didn't apply early is that I would have regretted not knowing where else I could have gotten in. I applied SCEA to Stanford, reject. C'est la vie, I suppose. Anyone know how many Huntsman spots are already filled?

I would say about half.. so there are probably 20-25 spots left for RD. Don't be discouraged; go for it, reality!

Other Factors: I really think my Why Penn essay showed them how certain I wanted to go to because I really did my research on the school and everything. Also, I'm in a scholar program at my school and in the California Scholarship Federation. Also, I'm not sure if this is a hook or not, but my school doesn't usually send people to Ivies. Also, maybe Wharton is looking for certain combination of factors in the application that's specific to business, like high math scores (though my SAT II's were pretty low) and passion/competition (exhibited through my essays).

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: All I can say is that Penn probably wants a diverse community. I can't really see how I made it into Wharton with my scores compared to some of you others who got deferred/rejected. That's all I can come up with...Anyway, good luck to the rest of you, and sorry for those who got deferred/rejected.

does anyone else see a trend where people with relatively low everything, but 4.0 uw get in? i haven't looked in this forum for a while but i do remember seeing some of those. is penn putting more weight on 4.0?

Penn loves Vals and Sals more than 2350s and 35s.

Haha yeah, I think Penn likes GPA more than SATs. Also, I think my senior year schedule saved me big time. My school didn't offer any honors/AP classes freshman/sophomore year, so I loaded up whenever I had the chance junior/senior year.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: Congrats to everyone else who got in; you're friends with me on Facebook if you're cool.

Yea, It seems pretty obvious that penn is putting lots of extra weight on gpa and ranking this year. Which is probably why I got rejected.

What really puzzles me is how many Whartonites with low math scores i'm seeing on the Math Sat I and II. Is it just me, or are there a LOT of Chinese who got accepted? Not that i'm complaining, taiwan fo' lyfe

Haha and Jewish. You know the whole stereotype about Jewish and Chinese being stingy with their money lmao.

I don't think Math Sat II mattered much to them, but the Math section in the SAT I's was probably really important for Wharton...

really? i'd think it'd be the other way around, because math 2 is calculus based stuff, while math 1 is just like, problem solving and not too advanced. maybe i'm just saying that because i got higher on math 2 :-(
Do you think an 800 math 2 offsets a 750 math 1 and 35 math ACT?

Math SAT II Lv. C actually has a ridiculous scale, so it's not "that hard" to get an 800 on it. In fact, I think if you get an 800 you're only in, like, the 81st percentile or something. The Math SAT II Lv. B (or whatever the easier one is), though, is actually much harder to do very well on--I know I got a 770 on it, and I was in the 98th percentile or something.

In general, Math SAT II Lv. C is just very forgiving. I got one question wrong on the Math section of the SAT I and got a 790, whereas I gurantee you I got at least four or five questions wrong on the SAT II and still got an 800.

I agree..people got into wharton with really low math AND reading scores. Either that, or the people who claim they got accepted are full of you know what

The Math Lvl 1 is ridiculously easy though, from what I heard. Math Lvl 2 is on a totally different level (pardon the pun).

Math 2 was NOT Calculus based. That's why I did so badly on it lmao. Everything on it was 2 years removed for me :(

Uh, yeah, I got into Wharton, and my Math 2C score sucked. But I did get an 800 on the SAT I Math, so maybe that salvaged my app?

I thought Penn looks beyond the SAT scores. yeah my SAT scores aren't up to par, but my list of EC's are huge and I've been to National Champs as an athlete, I won district awards in art, I'm part of a couple volunteer groups and my essays were really good.

I'm also an Indian from India but U.S. Citizen, born at UPenn hospital. Dad used to work at Penn for 4 years. Thats why my parents came to America. Mom worked at Temple. Penn professors know me very well =//

I suppose there are tons of candidates from India though, and that makes the competition fiercer?

I don't know, but I am lamenting my deferral.

i have to agree about the math level 2 opinion being far removed from one's memory. I studied hyperbolas, etc, in 9th grade and I relearned them for the SAT II. Not at all part of my current math syllabus. Also, the day before I had an all-integration test and there is no integration whatsoever on Math Level 2. Also, my SAT I in October was postponed (and for all test centers in India) till November 18 and I wasn't as prepared for it as I was in October. Right before my Biology M SAT II I had my IB Extended Essay due. Meh :[ I just think I have really bad luck. I got 670 Bio M, 630 Chem, 660 Math Level 2, 650 Writing, 660 Math (SAT I), 620 Verbal. Sigh. I think thats why I was deferred...
