Have you? Has anyone? I have not received a missing financial aid information email

If we applied Early Decision, should we have completed the financial aid forms by November 3rd? I didnât realize until just now when I looked at the link in the portal!

guys stop worrying⌠this missing financial aid documents email goes out to people who have not completed their financial aid application.

also do you guys think theyâre still going through applicants by now? or have all applications been finalizedâŚ

Iâd say theyâre probably 98% done going through applications. But was the deadline for financial aid November 3rd? For some reason I thought it could be completed after you found out your decision.

^ I thought the same thing. Do you think it would affect our chance of admission? Is it bad if we didnât finish it but also didnât get the email?

Wow this is a really weird situation. I know for a fact Penn financial aid forms were due Nov 3rd. But I would not put much weight on this email because remember Penn admissions is separate from FA, at least for North America.

I didnât finish the financial aid, and I didnât get an email about it either⌠Iâm graspingat straws, but the straws arenât painting a pretty lpicture :c

Iâll look more into it and let you know!

I think you are misinformed. Thatâs like saying legacy isnât given special consideration either. They definitely are. Thereâs a reason Qb kids receive decisions weeks before everyone else: itâs a different pool with different scrutinization.

I didnât get it. But if you look at past threads, thereâs a direct correlation between acceptance and missing documentation financial aid emails.

And I know I forgot to hand in my T4 forms (but maybe they arenât necessary for making financial aid decisions).

So.much.stress.

Okay I emailed Sharla and this is what she said:

Hi ******,

Your application for financial aid is complete at this time.

I guess I didnât have to submit my T4.

@HvePassionâ are you sure receiving the missing forms email implied acceptance in the past? What about just the FA forms confirmation email?

@HvePassionâ you need to stop looking for some random correlations just wait for the decision⌠Youâre spreading the stress around

Hey guys, Iâve been lurking on this thread since it was at about page 20 or so, and I decided to finally make an account because I could answer a question about the financial aid. Just as a precursor, if you guys have any legitimately serious questions (not irrational ones that resulted from over-worrying), then you should probably call up the school and ask them yourself. They are there to help you, take advantage of it.

@PassionIsAllâ I had called them up in the first of December because I found out that the CSS profile was necessary for financial aid, but it was due on the third of November. The guy told me very casually that I could just complete it now, and that it wasnât really a big deal about the due date. He said that that due date is only necessary if you want to know how much financial aid youâll be receiving on the day of your acceptance (if you get accepted). If you complete it later, as I did, then youâll receive a breakdown of how much financial aid youâll receive after your acceptance (if youâre accepted).

Honestly guys, I wouldnât read too much into what âindicatesâ rejection or acceptance, because when it really comes down to it, the only thing that indicates acceptance or rejection is the explicit decision you receive on the 15th. Any indicators people talk about are most likely hogwash, considering people as smart as the staff at UPenn would realize that they are indicating a decision (and therefore refrain from doing so).

The reason I was worried was because I read this thread^, and everyone who got in received a missing financial aid application notification.

@pianogeekâ the confirmation email doesnât mean anything.

As for QuestBridge applicants, of course it is easier for them to get in than normal applicants, considering thatâs the whole point of the program. If it wasnât easier, then QuestBridge wouldnât need to exist, and those kids could receive admission normally and appropriate financial aid packages. I personally know several people that got into Ivy Leagues (two of whom chose Penn) who participated in a program similar to QuestBridge, and I know that they would not have gotten in were it not for that program.

The whole idea behind QuestBridge is that âIf a student can achieve well under extremely difficult life circumstances, then imagine what they can achieve given an environment more suitable for their capabilities.â However, the standard for âachieving wellâ will have to be lowered because, as you can imagine, it is MUCH more difficult for people to achieve well under tough economic circumstances. Imagine this: a simple SAT or AP exam book can cost as much as $30. Now most of you (and me) would buy that without thinking twice if we needed it for the class. However, to someone who earns $30000 yearly, that book is worth .1% of their ENTIRE YEARLY SALARY (not even including income tax). A single book. .1%. It may not seem like a lot, but when mortgage, car payments, food, electricity, and other payments are taken into consideration, then buying that book is literally taking food off of your own plate. Because of that, they donât have access to the same materials that the rest of us do in order to help score highly on standardized tests. So, accordingly, their standards for achievement are lowered and it is thus easier for them to get acceptance.

Welp, I guess I shouldnât have been such a stickler about due dates so I could know my decision five days earlier lol
