*Penn Class of 2020 Early Decision Discussion*

Hey fellow Penn people!
A couple of other school forums have begun this discussion thread, so I figured we should start one here. Common App opens in about 60 days, and you can never be too prepared!

Hahahahahahahahahaha. I wanna apply ED this year

So do I!

Same here! Lets hope we all get in :stuck_out_tongue:
Btw, theres a facebook group for Penn applicants for batch of 2020. Why dont you guys join? https://www.facebook.com/groups/upennco2020apps/1585549508376636/?notif_t=group_activity

Hey y’all. I’ve known Penn is my first choice for a while now. can’t wait to apply ED

Is there any advantage of ED over regular? It seems like the ED batch would be way more competitive.

ED to Wharton here

Meruem123 - Penn tends to prefer ED applicants, though the pool is certainly more competitive. The ED accept rate is around 25% (+ or - 3%), which is considerably higher than the average rate of 10%. I met with a professor who told me the admissions committee absolutely does prefer ED applicants.

ED LSM here btw, with a second choice of CAS

ED to CAS here! So excited to apply!

I thinking about EDing to Penn! I am just worried: does Penn give good financial aid?

We got a great financial aid package with no loans. They are not as generous as, say, Princeton or Stanford, but they are more generous than most schools. Our financial aid covered tuition and room.

ED to Wharton :)!

Wow, you guys start early! I’m going ED to UPenn but honestly have no idea where else I’m applying. I feel like I’m slacking when I see this posted haha

ED LSM

I’m thinking of applying early to CAS, but I’m also thinking of double majoring with Computer Science in SEAS. Does anyone have any information or experience on this? Is it better to get in and then declare a double major or is it better to apply for both majors right off the bat? I’ve heard that SEAS is easier to get into than CAS, but my engineering extra curriculars are lacking. I’m more into the liberal arts CAS extra curriculars but I’ve started to become interested in STEM as well.

@pHBalance SEAS is harder to get into than CAS,–used to be a bit easier until few years ago but it is getting harder and harder given how popular tech is nowadays. apply to either school (i d say college) and after you get in apply to double major with the other school.

Hey guys! ED to Wharton here from Canada  Very nervous and excited. Does anyone know when the Penn essay supplements come out? Want to get started as soon as possible.

@pHBalance Hi! I’m currently enrolled at SEAS, it’s harder to get in than CAS yes. Also, if you get into CAS and then apply for a double major for CS, the degree you recieve is Bachelors of Arts (CAS offers no other degree), whereas if you get into SEAS, you can get either a Bachelors of Applied Science or Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree. So it depends how much of a preference you give to CS, where you should apply. Hope that helps.
