hey guys, please don’t discuss questions with anyone still yet! We don’t know how long the extension is, so the safest thing to do is keep conversations until after results are announced, or at least until NEXT week. For example, @inAllItsFury just PMed me claiming that he had not taken the exam this year but wanted me to tell him some of the more difficult ones were. This runs counter to his earlier post that “After all it is the IBO WE are competing for”, so please be wary.
I apologize if I have given any indication in the message @botherme that I am not competing in the IBO. Just not the USABO since I am not from US. Saw the previous open tests of USABOs to get myself a little acquainted with the tough questions which elicited a response that I jotted above and I wanted to know this year’s as well. But I absolutely get all the secrecy. That’s why I saw the USABO calendar before pestering anyone. If anyone has seen it its written 14 Feb as the last date. I apologize again for all this. Sorry mate.
Yeah, sorry if I was a bit too hasty, but deadlines here in the US were actually extended for a week and I just didn’t want to take any chances.
That really stinks the way they spaced the day the open results come out and the semi-final administrations. Would it even be worth studying for the semis. I don’t want to come off as cocky but I don’t want to be wasting my time studying for the semis if I didn’t even make it to the semis round.
^^^Same predicament.
BTW I believe that the extension for the open has already been over. My biology teacher who knows of people at CEE says last week was the last week to send scores.
Having said that, what do you think the cutoff score will be this year?
The cutoff score has never been higher than 30 correct?
Also botherme pls share your secrets to making camp.
Yeah the general consensus is that the test was harder than that of last year. So I am guessing that the cutoff will be less than last year.
@Hotmamanearyou lol a much better source to ask would be wanahakalugi, who made IBO
still Top 20 is pretty darn impressive. Do yall know how CEE scores the ones with multiple answers?
Is it partial credit or is the exact answer necessary to get credit?
ok… so apparently… there are schools still testing… so…
@inAllItsFury I still find you sketch
Please do not discuss
@Hotmamanearyou there is partial credit, but I have no clue how they determine how much partial credit you receive.
Got it. I guess my bio teacher’s sources aren’t right.
@inAllItsFury is definitely trying to cheat.
Tried to contact me yesterday.
@botherme you have any idea when the extension ends?
The only reason I contacted you @Hotmamanearyou was that you said the extension was over and because I wouldn’t know coz I’m not from US. Anyhow could any one of you would tell me that reading BRS is worth it. I heard last year IBO had quite technical physiolgy questions. Thx.
Ok
- If you are not from the US, how does the USABO affect you in any way, shape or form?
- The CEE released every exam from 2004-2013, so you can determine the “difficult” questions yourself, instead of pestering everyone.
- Why do you insist on continually asking everyone desperately for “the difficult answers” and only “the difficult questions” when everyone clearly doesn’t want to talk to you? Most importantly, why do you want to know the questions specifically from this year’s open?
- Even if you are not from the US (which I highly doubt),you may be able to help our your “mates” from the States.
- As for claiming that you didn’t know there was an extension, as long as you were taking the open exam this week, you might have received answers.
Sorry but you’re as sketchy as a sex offender in white van offering candy to toddlers.
Apparently my local high school is taking it at 3/5…(the opens, officially).
DO NOT DISCUSS the questions.
That is… ridiculous. Wow.
But the results come out 3/13???
Will there be extensions like BasedBioGod’s for the SemiFinals?
Ok I took the test today… it was my first time taking it but feels like I might have qualified for the second round. Could anyone tell me how exactly second round is like and what the max point is? I read somewhere saying that the cutoff for top 20 is probably 150 or something like that… Also is anyone preparing for USNCO?
Second round has 3 sections: A which is simple MC, B which is harder MC and weighted more, and C which is open ended on specific topics.
Cutoff for top 20 depends, and the maximum score of the test also changes year by year so nothing is guaranteed. Definitely nontrivial, since you may imagine there are at least 20 or more high school students crazy about bio in this entire nation.
