Is is difficult to change science majors at UW because of all the capacity constrained majors? For example, accepted into BioChem but may want to switch to Bio which is also a constrained capacity major.
A student who is one of the small number of highly credentialed direct admits to the biochemistry major should not have much difficulty changing to the biology major (as a matter of academic performance). However, you might want to consult an advisor to determine the best courses to take with that possibility in mind.

Did anyone go to the accepted students day yesterday? To be honest my daughter and her three friends that got into the UDub were shocked by how subdued the new students were. Very quiet, very nerdy. They all go to a high school which is highly academic but also very social and they all do sports plus have leadership responsibilities etc. “Work Hard, Play Hard”.
I had the same experience a few days earlier when I was West of campus in the area with lots of new dorms and a grocery store. Everyone looked the same, everyone was subdued. I was quite shocked! Where’s the creativity, the fun, the energy - the college experience?
She has now decided to rush for Sororities. She was undecided before and we both weren’t sure if they were inclusive. However we met two sorority sisters yesterday who were giving information and one was Indian American (i.e. parents from India) so I asked her about her experiences and she is very happy. My daughter is trying to guarentee she can be around people who want to enjoy themselves and have fun.
I’m not exactly sure why the UDub has changed but many of the students looked determined NOT to have a good time. It was depressing. They are pre-professional WAY before their time. All her friends felt the same way.
