Official Vanderbilt 2015 Fall Transfer Thread

@ilikewatermelon‌ I just emailed them. I will fax it tomorrow just to be safe. did you by any chance mail ur report on its own or was other documents included? If other stuff was included was the report the only one that showed missing for yours also?

I mailed that report and a recommendation on the same day, but separately. I’m guessing it arrived before the deadline, but they just didn’t get a chance to update the system until recently. It might have been the same case for you as well!

Okay thanks for the help!

Of course! Now all of us are in the waiting game.

@ilikewatermelon‌

Okay so I just checked this morning and my status says complete. Guess it took time for everything to process. Yay!! Now I can anxiously await decision day

Sweet! I’ll post my stats and stuff when I get my decision later on!

Hi–so I was one of those reluctant to post my stats until (if) I get accepted but I guess it can’t hurt

@ccheese96‌ So what does Christian.org and Volunteer.org mean?

Some thoughts on applying as an engineer, I think having lots of credits is actually pretty important. Of course eve5y school is different, but I suspect the courses always get significantly harder and so they give your later classes more weigh than your earlier classes (Calc I, intro to programming)

My argument, is that Georgia tech requires certain classes HAVE to be completed before applying (Calc II, certain computer engineering classes) and Tufts University requires 38 credits, which is really hard to achieve in only two semesters. My point is that I imagine there is a trend. I hope I get into Vanderbilt. I hope everyone gets in to Vanderbilt. But I’m honestly pretty skeptical that applying, at least so soon, was really a good idea.

Are we allowed to send in the Transfer Report ourselves? My admissions counselor mentioned scanning and emailing it, but when I did, I got a message from someone in the admissions office saying they only accept the forms via “official channels” meaning from the college’s office. But what if you are applying to a lot of schools? With the administration at my current college, it was hard enough getting them to fill it out. I practically had to jump through hoops. And now I have to ask them to send it for me as well. Very frustrating… This is the last piece needed to complete my file, and now I have to wait until after Spring Break to get the form in.

@mberry24 I actually just made my college fill out the form. then i mailed it in addition to my transcripts. They accepted it anyways even though it was from me and not directly sent from my college. so i think they’d still accept it from you. I’m not sure if they would take it if it was sent via email, but mailing should be fine.

@mberry24 Same thing that newbee18 did. My advisor filled out the form, and I mailed it to the admissions office. If I remember correctly, the form itself says something like “return to student after completion” somewhere on the bottom or whatever. Hopefully it should be okay! Someone from the admissions office also told me that it’s okay to fax it to your Vanderbilt counselor, and they’ll forward it to your file.

SO: it is OK to send in the forms yourself? I too sent in the forms a long time ago and they are not received according to my Vanderbilt status.

@embellishment‌ It should be fine that you sent them in yourself, but I would email your Vanderbilt counselor since they apparently haven’t shown up in the portal. They might tell you what to do from there. You could try mailing or faxing another copy.

@ccheese96 why are you transferring out of emory? I am applying there as well to transfer so I wanted to ask you

Hello, everyone. I’m applying for CS.

@WMstudent18‌ Emory is a great school, don’t get me wrong, and it may be the right school for you so I won’t try to discourage you from attending if you get in but I will tell you to be aware that the school in general is pretty apathetic. There is little sense of community and it doesn’t really seem to bother anyone. It’s not a Southern school by any means as the vast majority of students are from the East Coast and are used to living in a busy, impersonal environment. I think the lack of an interest in athletics definitely contributes to the lacking sense of community, as well. If you go to a soccer or basketball game you might see 30 students there… if you’re lucky. People just don’t feel a need to be proud of the school and support their team. The diversity at Emory is so great but unfortunately the lack of Emory pride on campus keeps people from uniting together as one student body from many different cultural backgrounds. People are proud that they were able to get in to Emory, but once they’re here its seems that they’re not really interested in contributing to the community but instead are very future-focused and are worried about getting into grad school and setting themselves up for success in their career. If you’re only looking for strong academics and a place to make connections Emory might be the place for you, but if you think you want a strong community and sense of school pride to complement your experience in the classroom take this into consideration before you commit.

@Keanedawg‌ “Christian org” and “Volunteer org” just mean a Christian organization and Volunteer organization whose names wouldn’t mean much to people on here–just campus student groups. But if you’re interested the Christian organization is RUF and the volunteer one is Volunteer Emory.

Hi, I have submitted my transfer admission on the 13th of March to Vanderbilt but as of today it is still incomplete. It says that my application incomplete due to college transcript and CSS profile not received yet. I hope this does not affect my chances of my application being reviewed! I submitted everything else before the deadline and it is just there are 2 materials left that i have no idea why it still didnt go through.

I just submitted my CSS profile last friday but up till now it has still not been reflected. Does anyone knows how to CSS profile works? Like how will they be received electronically or physically?

In addition, my college transcript will be send today from Buffalo New York by mail. Hopefully it will be there by the end of the week.
Initially I sent my academic advisement report which includes my grades and GPA but then I realized it is not the college transcript they wanted. So I had to call my university to send it personally for me. I am an international student from University of Buffalo but studying in the Singapore campus.

I tried calling the office of undergraduate admissions today and also my admission counselor but they are closed today for regular decisions for first year applicants. Will have to call tmr.

Hey Guys has everyone submitted their apps? What schools are everyone specifically looking at?
