I think the answer was discern....was that a choice?

There was a question about what "distinguish" meant in context--was the answer differentiate?

I think the answer was discern....was that a choice?

i dont remember answering
31. More to language than just technical efficiency

maybe it was worded differently

the answer was E differentiate

I forgot if it was differentiate or discern--but it was definitely one of them! lol

i dont remember answering
8. Author implies that astronaut jargon has the potential to become exclusive
can anyone expand

"16. The situation most nearly similar to that of the athlete practicing his moves because of his behavioral patterns is that of a musician, or someone practicing his or her work( can't remember the answer wording, but think answer was C)"

Wasn't the answer to this one "Sally going through her turns mentally before her driver's test"? Because the example was of an athlete mentally putting himself in a pressure situation. I think that was D.

Yeah, that's what I said. The driver's test, because she goes through it mentally.

oh thats right it was the driver. i just remember answering the choice that said the person was imagining. i dont remember what exactly he/she was imagining

i don't agree with astronaut jargon has potential to become exclusive. i remember putting something with unprecedented. anyone want to confirm that?

also, there was that question that some people put the laypersons answer for. i didn't put that, but i don't recall what i put. anyone put something different?

yeah i remember putting something unprecedented. but im pretty sure "foreign language" was referring to something that a regular person wouldnt understand

for the 2 passages about travelling alone... one of the questions was the reason for the reference of Hemingway's "french auto-trip"....and the choices was that it showed...bla bla bla...

Here is a summary of what we have come up with so far. Congratulations to all. Believe that this has been most successful June SAT I thread I have seen!

ESSAY TOPIC - there were at least three and maybe more topics. College Board will post them in due time.

2. MEDIA - something about the media's impact upon what we think is important
3. BEING PRACTICAL - something about learning to be practical (making money) versus having a good life

WHAT WAS THE EXPERIMENTAL GRAMMAR?
Unfortunately we don't know for sure. I definitely had El Greco and Poetry Slam. Weight of evidence seems to support El Greco as experimental and Poetry Slam is one that counted. BUT there could have been other Grammar Sections that counted.

SENTENCE COMPLETIONS
1. ENTHRALLED - I seem to be the only one who remembers this as an answer so maybe I'm wrong
2. RETICENT (Thurgood Marshall was reticent in private)
3. IMPECUNIOUS..AFFLUENT
4. CHAGRIN
5. ENDEMIC (plants somewhere were ENDEMIC to region. Thought answer would be indigeneous but it was not a choice. So had to go with ENDEMIC)
6. EBLLIENCE .. PESSIMISM (group has to rethink their policies because their initial ebullience gave way to pessimism)
7. AMALGAM .. COIN (author combined two names to coin a new one)
8. PROPONENT
9. EXTEMPORIZE (about monarch butterflies)
10. COMPLICITY .. EXONERATE (because of proven complicity could not exonerate)
11. TEPID (response was lukewarm and therefore TEPID)

HOLLYWOOD PARAGRAPH
1. The cornerstone of a blockbuster movie is "high concept" so cornerstone most nearly means FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENT
2. Author is DERISIVE

PUFFIN PARAGRAPH
1.

does anyone know any of the other answer choices for whatever the question was that had the "laypersons find it needlessly complicated" as a supposed answer?

a few more questions to add on

Believe that UNPRECEDENTED was in the answer to one of the questions but can't recall question

It was something like... the jargon was a response to an unprecedented situation.

Yeah, I remember that answer iamconfuzzled. It asked what the author implied about the astronaut jargon.

I said that it had the potential to become exclusive because the author hinted that it would become exclusive in the beginning of the second paragraph and said that while it wasn't exclusive, it was already beginning to show some signs that it would become exclusive, or something along those lines.
