Since the other popular waitlist thread got pulled to another subforum I'm starting this thread...basically if you are pulled off of the waitlist please post here (with your stats--optional) so we can keep a general track of whether the waitlist is active. General comments related to the UChi waitlist are also welcomed.

I guess none of the 15 that were taken off is on CC…

Does UC even pst the results of the waitlist or not?

They do let you know even if you are ultimately rejected, but that’s not until June (or July?)

Nope 2yuexue…but lets hope that they are still taking people and that one of them might post here :)

somehow I feel they will.

come on guys, this thread should be as long as the one last year!

like 4 people on CC found out this day last year, so…i don’t know…

I know. I was hoping there were some got off as early as today…

what did you guys send in so far?

the usual, transcripts, email of interest, follow-up rec…I feel like there really is nothing much for us to do at this point and anything more will just annoy the regional officer

When I emailed my regional admissions counselor, she implied that UChicago might not take anyone at all from the wait list outside the people who have already been admitted off of it. We’ll see how things go, but due to the increase in yield, I doubt we have stellar chances.

Just out of curiosity, Pharyngula, what did your regional counselor say?

Pharyngula, did you email her recently? Man, this is depressing…

Pharyngular,

What do you mean by “due to the increase in yield”? Is the yield out already or just a guess?

Pharyngula,

Thank you for your email. We will get in touch with Waitlisted students as we have determined our final numbers for admitted students. At this point, we are projecting that we may not be able to go to the waitlist in the coming weeks/months, primarily because of the significant increase in yield we experienced this year. However, as soon as this determination is made, we will make sure Waitlisted students are informed.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,

Pharyngula, that is really depressing…

But anyway, does anyone know how this waitlist process for UC work? let’s say UC gave 50 people from certain ethnic group admissions and expect all of them to come to the school, but like 25 people from that group decide not to go to UC. Then, does UC takes other 25 people from the waitlist to fill up these spots or just leave the 25 seats empty and close the door for waitlisted students(who have the same ethnicity as the first 50 people) ?

Pharyngula,

What was the exact time of this email?

Thanks

If they had such an increase in yield, then they would not have rushed to accept the 15.

I just sent an email to my adcom asking the same question about the list being active–it’s not that I don’t believe Pharyngula, I just wanna read the email from him myself before I let my final hope die :(

UChicago seems to be known for overenrolling its class though, so maybe some of us will still get off…

that post just ruined my day… this is the worst man
