Hi all! So I've been following CC religiously for the last few weeks trying to come across ANY clue as to whether anyone who has applied to wake as a transfer has heard a response as of yet, and realized that even if anyone has, it definitely wasn't posted here. So, if anyone has heard anything regarding the admissions (acceptances, rejections, or the date when letters begin to be sent out) PLEASE save me, and hopefully several others, the anxiety and post them here!

Still waiting to hear back. When did you submit your application?

I submitted all of the other application materials (SAT’s, recs, etc) early in March because I applied to a few other universities, but I didn’t submit the application itself until March 31st. I think I’m going to call the university tomorrow to see if anyone would be able to answer that question for me. When did you submit your stuff!? And thanks a bunch for replying, I’ve never been one to post on CC

Submitted on the April 1st deadline. Also, I was told that decisions were rendered on a rolling basis–i.e., every three weeks or so. What program did you apply to?

Oy, thanks so much for saying that- I knew it was rolling, but the three week thing helps. I guess its just the anxiety kicking in because I know that it should be coming in the next few weeks, and I reaaalllllllyyyy want to go. I applied to the college of arts and sciences ( I don’t have any business savvy whatsoever.) And yourself?

I know the feeling. I’ve always been of the mindset that, as humans, we should focus our energy on things we can control. Needless to say, waiting for the “verdict” has upended my reasoning.

I applied to the arts and science college as a biology major. Hopefully we hear some good news in the near future!

YES! Good luck! I hope we hear something good, it’ll be a really nice way to end finals week and all that jazz. I’ll definitely call the school tomorrow to see if they’ll be anymore specific on notification dates and let ya (and anyone else who sees this thread) know!

Sounds great! Thanks so much! Best of luck with finals.

Hey guys I applied to Wake Forest for this fall as a sophomore transfer, and I have about a 3.0 GPA at Boston College - Carroll School of Management. I applied May 1st. That’s not too late right? Since it’s April 1st rolling, so that means that isn’t the deadline but only when they start even accepting application.

ok! So I called, and the woman told me what I already knew which wasn’t a surprise. So, she said the notifications are rolling and that it really depends on when admissions looks at your application, so it’s really a shot in the dark as to when they come exactly, but it should be at some point this month!

and trojaneagle, mmmm I mean I don’t know the exact answer. But I would honestly say that I think that April 1st is the final day they will accept the supps and the application; I know that universities have leeway with the other materials for your application. However, I also applied to vanderbilt, and when I got an email from missing materials, it said to submit the application, if you hadn’t by today. So I honestly think it depends on the school, but your best bet is to call admissions tomorrow and find out, I don’t want to mislead you. Good luck to you though- hopefully they accepted it!

@trojan: rest assured, as they will be accepting applications until august 1st. i have spoken to them about this numerous times.

@walkthemoon: good work! hopefully we’ll be hearing from them sooner rather than later. when do you hear from vandy?

I applied to UVA, Wake Forest, and Vanderbilt. I didn’t get into UVA, and am waiting to hear from Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. If I get into Wake Forest I can walk on to the football team which is a plus, even though Vanderbilt may be more prestigious and better nightlife/social life. Which one are you leaning to and where are you applying from?

OYOYOY, @emersongarcia you’ve definitely saved the day here
but, I’m not sure when vandy tells us when we get in, which is just adding to the biting of my nails and stuff. I’ll see what happens, I’m just like blyahhhhh. yeap.

and if I were to get into both schools, I would pick wake forest hands down. I’m not sure, but like, it’s kind of this innate need to want to go there. Last year I was into huge schools and now that I go to one (Hofstra- I also get a kick ass fin.aid package, but the fin.aid. isn’t enough to make me want to stay; for me it’s kind of bland, and it’s not meeting the expectations I had about college) I realized I loved my seminars where there were only 10 kids or so. Wake is relatively a small school, and it has everything a big school has, but its condensed, and I can just see myself there? I don’t know… like vandy is wonderful and getting in would be amazing, but if I had a choice I would definitely pick Wake Forest. what about you guys?

Totally understand, Moonwalker. (We’ve reached the point in our posting interactions where name alterations are okay, right?) You’re absolutely right about Wake Forest: it’s got large-school resources and small-school classroom sizes. Plus, I dig the “Pro Humanitate” school motto. I was accepted to Emory, UT-Austin, and U of Iowa, but at the end of the day I’d be choosing between Emory and Wake Forest (if I get in). Vanderbilt would be a difficult school to turn down, but it’s good to hear that your mind is made up.

mmmmmm. ok, this name alteration is okiedokies (but walk the moon is a great band, so if you have any free time you should definitely listen to them!!)
also, is it bad when I wrote to the admissions office I wrote pro humanitate in the end? I didn’t want to be cheesy but that is one of the biggest reasons why I love wake so much! and congrats on Emory (and UT Austin and U of Iowa)! Its an amazzzzzziiiiiinggg school, my friends who go there now absolutely love it. I wanted to apply there, but it’s wayyy tooo far from home, like way far out. Vanderbilt is amazing by every means, its just I know I would be happier at Wake; I like dream about it at this point. I know. I feel like a high school senior :(

Anyone know what the stats/difficulty is to get into wake? My GPA isn’t that good but I’m coming from a school where a lot of people think is better than Wake’s. our business school also recently got ranked 6th in the nation, which is better than wake’s. do you think I have a solid shot?

There are too many factors at hand to know if you have a “solid shot.” If you performed well in a wide range of classes and provided satisfactory responses to their essay prompts, I don’t see why you wouldn’t have a good chance. However, don’t expect Wake to take into consideration that your business school is ranked 6th in the nation. They only care that you did well.

Exactly as emersongarcia said; it looks as if you have what the school generally look for in an applicant, so I don’t think there is a need to worry with respect to your credentials. However, the admissions game is such a shot in the dark as to who they take; it’s really is up to the officers and who they feel would be a great fit for the university and whether the applicant will make a great impact to their peers and the university as well. We aren’t the officers so our opinions don’t count for much- but you do look like a competitive applicant.

Question: I’ve applied to 4 universities and vanderbilt said they haven’t recieve my college officials report nor my college transcript but the other three universities have. I’m going to fax the documents over now, but have any of you guys been in this situation or have any speculations as to why this happened?

MoonWalkThe: I think schools get bombarded with materials and tend to lose things on a regular basis. Thus, the easiest excuse to produce is, “We never received it.” Happened to me with Boston University. They happened to be really rude about it, too. But it happens. Get them that info and keep those fingers crossed.

I think you’ve just affirmed how awesome my username is- but I digress.
I was thinking the same thing; they get hundreds of papers sent to them all the time and they probably just misplaced it. I’m going to my school’s office tomorrow morning and faxing both documents to them; when I called the office they were nice so it’s not too daunting. But Garciaemerson, with BU, did that affect the admissions process at all: did it delay it or anything or was it just a question of when you would resend the information?
