16 missed w/ guessing penalty is a 56 according to the bulletin

LEt's do some Writing Skills!! :) Please!!

Let's discuss this one

Black women passage

In their approaches to history, both the author and her mother are motivated by the desire to
A) pioneer a new research methodology
B) gain recognition as competent scholars
C) correct inaccuracies in earlier historical accounts
D) preserve an accurate record of their community (my guess)
E) recognize admirable community members publicly

i said D too

A is the larger context, perhaps?

I wouldn't say D, but A. It's more about their historical approaches...

i said B, but i think im wrong. I was thinking about A

Yeah, nothing about recognition!

Were people at your test sites actually being serious?

I wrote in a nearby private school (my school cannot accomodate PSAT's as I am the only one who wants to write)

90% of the kids apparently signed up just to get out of morning class. I saw lots of kids not even open the test booklet when the test started. Hopefully there are more people like them so the average will be lower...... but the test is not scaled via averages are they?

in regards to A, i don't think the mother had the intention to advocate a new methodology?

no, but it will make semi-finalist an easier task, since it is based off of percentage.

post more questions.

new methodology= YES, she was advocating a more open view to personal accounts and stuff...it makes sense, or else, what else was she doing then?

Funny, i woke up @ 5:45; took the subway to get there earlier than 7:45, started late at 8 cause of a dumb proctor; finished 10.30 10.50 school started and ended at 2:15. Then had a student gov't metting until 4:15. Came home at 5! Not bad, eh?

it depends if the kids actually turned in their test answer sheets with a name on them...

no school at all today, after the test, since the sophomores were taking the plan test!!! haha

I put down D too. The passage didn't mention anything about wanting to gain recognition, but it did talk about conveying the more personal lives of historical figures correctly and accurately.

did the guy feel sorry for the guy when he was reading that book to him? some people say "deep respect" but the passage never suggested this?

A) isnt to gain recognition, its to institute a fresher historical methodology

so we're torn, A or D for this one?

oh, jrcho do you have that question? the one with the old man.

billyum, yea i'll type that in a sec. While I'm doing that, lets take a look at this one

The description in lines 18-23 primarily serves to
A) depict a habitual condition
B) justify a complaint
C) convey a deep resentment (my guess..i think im wrong)
D) explain a humiliating predicament
E) evoke a state of mind
